I am so trying to understand why you feel guilty. Did you really think that pointing out this error on the casino's part was the thing to do? Okay, maybe it was, but to be honest with you, I know I would have walked away. I think you did good by holding on to it for so long. I do know how it feels to have a chunk of change, and then not have it anymore due to your own spending habits. Thanks for sharing.

It takes a lot of courage to write about guilt, but somehow it is cathartic . Maybe you could donate small money ( in � or £) amounts to charities for the homeless, or work with Habitat for Humanity i some way.

Well, narrator, I think God has forgiven you and you need to forgive yourself as well. You at last came out with it, told your friend, and now tell it here. You have done everything to earn your forgiveness from your own self:

We were so careful with taking it off, only bit by bit. We hang onto it for years, when we reckoned they could not come after us.

Robert, my husband, told me not to tell anybody. Somewhat later I took my best friend in confidence. She is the only one that knows.

Sadly, you lost your money gambling, which can become addictive, especially online gambling. It is just like playing a video game on the computer, but the only thing is that actual money is not involved with that video game.
