H Brett, This is the first I've read of Cody for a while. As usual there's some good suspense. Only one thing if I may. I suggest you use far less of the adjectives ending on 'ly'. All best. Ulla:)

I can't wait until the Sheriff catches up with this creep. So he has been abusing this boy for ten years and now he has captured him again. I hope his father rescues him, though ten years is horrible enough. I know that you write these stories because they are what still happens in the world so someone has to tell them. It's just hard to read this without getting really angry at the reality of it all but well written and now I am following this story.

I can't wait until the Sheriff catches up with this creep. So he has been abusing this boy for ten years and now he has captured him again. I hope his father rescues him, though ten years is horrible enough. I know that you write these stories because they are what still happens in the world so someone has to tell them. It's just hard to read this without getting really angry at the reality of it all but well written and now I am following this story.

Good chapter. The suspense builds. Your writing is good, and I love the short chapters. The character of Cody is really well-developed. A child abuser uses scares his victims so they will comply. :( Well done.

I have one suggestion to offer, take it or leave it--you decide... too many adverbs (those action words that end in 'ly').
To mention a few:
grimly
frigidly
Robotically
Steadily
abruptly
Calmly
desperately

Really good chapter. I certainly didn't expect this. I thought for certain the Sheriff would get there and they'd go on the hunt for this bad guy. You surprised me. I like it.
I wish Lynda had shot him.
"Either you're getting braver or you're much more stupider ...." You can say "stupider" or "much stupider," but you can't say "more stupider."

Another intriguing chapter in your on-going tales of the troubles Cody finds himself in. Well-written and enjoyable. Only a couple small notes to pass on, if I may?
1.) Who burst the door wide open? Perhaps:
--> When the door to the shoppette burst wide open(,) Cody yelled...
--> but certainly a matter of opinion
2.) "You know better than to keep (me?) waiting for anything!" he was grimly apprised.

This speaks Cody's state of condition worsened by the intruder Earl Anthony Schroder whom Cody did not obey, Sheriff Daniels was not there, still now he is trapped and alone; I liked.
