Wow Fawcus:

You can really pour it on and in. How marvelously said and written. These words are what poetry sounds like and is why we are all so in love with the artistry and creativity of poetry.

Yes, definitely a case of unrequited lust! Dangerous creatures indeed. I can't think how poor old Poseidon managed to cope with a troupe of fifty of them. Thanks for your kind words, Hitch! Appreciated. Tony

Sadly, no mortal man can hope to hold the attention of a sea nymph! I love your mythological references, Tony! As you know, I believe a poet can swim forever in the deep wells of ancient mythology!

A wonderful piece, deep as the ocean and sparkling as the waves that cross it. Good luck in the contest!

Darn! I was hoping... Never mind, I shall just have to go and drown my sorrows with Bacchus instead! Thanks for your review and good luck wishes. Appreciated, as always. Tony

You have a way with words. There is wisdom and a good morale to the narrative poetic story. Well thought out. Good flow of rhythm and rhymes. Great accompanying photographic. Great work.

Hi Tony,

I really enjoyed the 'old world' feel to this poem. You went for an abba rhyme scheme, which in itself is rather unique. I'll have to pay more attention to see if you do this often, but you've capitalized the first letter in each line, like the poets of old, even when the punctuation doesn't dictate such. I think that is a wonderful touch for your poem of clever rhymes on unrequited love.

Good luck in the contest!

Kim

Best of British luck with your contest entry. We all have a mask, tis called our face. She looks serene and beautiful, but? The eyes are the mirror of the soul. You have written an intelligent and a quality poem about a woman of mystery. I liked it very much. Thanks for sharing.

Great opening verse Tony in this sensual poem. Gorgeous artwork you've used and wonderful descriptive phrasing - their parting holds a pledge, a door that's held ajar - great line. And then she flounces away, what a shame. Great read, loved it and good luck in the contest.
cheers.
