Great chapter. Lousy reward but no worries. Getting more and more sick of this place I wish I didn't have more than a year to go before I can get out. Love your stories though.

Hi, Patty!
I enjoyed reading this piece about Howie. We have two dogs that I adore. They make great companions. And yes, they do dream. My big dog is a terrible dreamer--she has plenty of nightmares. She dreams of chasing sheep ever since we came to live in the city. She runs in her sleep, growls and barks. She's even wet her bed once or twice! And yes, she too loves treats.

Thanks for sharing this, Patty. In reading it I got to think about Spock and Scotty.
It's hilarious watching them play in the back yard in the cool of the morning, each morning. Spock is twice the size of Scotty, but when it comes to dog play - Spock may be the one who starts things, but Scotty's the far more aggressive one of the two and he'll be chasing his friend from one fence boundary to the other before you know it. Good afternoon, Patty
I like the way you place the reader inside the dog's thoughts, perceptions and interactions with those that make up his world. Enjoyed.
Take care and stay safe,
Ray

I have patiently been waiting for another story from their point of view and it was written very well. No problems noted and that sweet spot is for sure.

Hello, Patty, good story about the way Bernie and Howie keep cool in the heat and about their doggie dreams. Your stories about them show how much you care about them. Good job, honey.

Bernie & Howie sound like kids--each wants what the other has. I enjoyed your story Patty. I like the POV about the dream. That was a great focus for the story. I know both dogs are like 'kids'. I know how much they mean to you & how much you love them, too. I can tell they love you. Good job & thanks for sharing. Jan

In addition to your many talents, now, I find out you interpret dog dreams. We had a dog. One day as he slept his legs started moving frantically and he let out little yelps. It wasn't hard to see that he was dreaming that a big dog was chasing him

I'm not aware that animals can dream
It might be the wordsmith's scheme
Dogs play together all the time
Treats makes their life sublime
***
This is very well written with a smooth flow of words, making for a very good read.

Hi Charlie; I think dogs dream - it must mean something when they lay there with their bodies twitching and little whimpers escaping from their snouts.
Thank you so much for reading and reviewing,
