This is a heartfelt poem to someone you loved. And it shows in your poem. The rhyming flows well, except for "joy and buy" in the 3rd stanza. Also, in the last 2 lines of the poem, I'm taken away by the word But.
This is so beautiful and captures the loss so well!

Thank you for your feedback I'll look at those areas. Someone else commented on the third stanza . I'm afraid if I take something away at this stage I will lose the effect. Thank you for your kind words.

How very sad! I understand how you feel. I have a Westie and I can't imagine what it would be like without her.
Good luck in the contest. Your poem is lovely. Full of emotion.

Mystery Poet,
What a touching letter to your faithful & dearly loved Zoe. You did a great job with a sad task. The picture is beautiful. Zoe was so much a part of your family. If the CEC can't see that, then it is their problem. Good job & best wishes in the contest. Jan

Winning the contest would be special, but it isn't everything. I still have tears in my eyes thinking of dear Zoe. Does this grief never end? I don't think it does. We've had 3 long term pets - dogs, but Zoe took a tiny piece of my heart with her when she left. We have a gorgeous 5 month old gorgeous Shepherd x Rotti at present. I swear he grows 6" every week. He's very much like Zoe and I feel a connection growing. Thank you for your kind words and for your feedback.

This poem to someone missed, Farewell My Trusted Friend, is a well presented final letter that you felt would connect to your loss. Losing a pet is hard and I think your poem was a nice gesture.

I am still reduced to tears even now, all these years later. As I said to a previous member, Zoe took a little piece of my heart with her when she went to doggie heaven. Thank you for your kind words and for your feedback.

Pets become an such an important part of our daily lives. They are family.
I'm so sorry for your loss as you stated so beautifully, Zoe is no longer in pain.

Very heartfelt and nicely written.
Blessings
Janet

Oh, this was intense, brought me to tears. I know the pain, the incredible pain of losing an animal. My sympathies are with you and your husband. Zoe will forever remain your friend and the love of your life. Even though her physical presence is no more, you will still feel her around, her spirit is with you and full of love.

Why do they have to go??

A beautiful, beautiful tribute to Zoe that she herself would be proud of.

She is out there, and she can hear you.

Now I am crying...

My dog is a "someone" too, and I won't let anyone tell me otherwise. You've penned an emotional poem in memory of a special companion that helped your family at a time which must have been very challenging.

Good luck with the contest,
pf

I enjoyed reading your poem "Farewell Trusted friend". I liked your photo as it reminded me of my dog when I was a child. Unfortunately he was bitten by a tick behind his ear and my Dad had to shoot him. _ back to your poem all you rhyming was spot on except in stanza three. You may wish to check on it.
All the best.
Marybell1.

I teared up reading this. I had to put our cat of fifteen years to sleep, she was battling aggressive cancer. It's been four years, and I still feel her in my arms as they gave her her final shot. Blessings to you, your family, and Zoe.

A very well-written poem/letter to a very special pet that shared your life for many years. The become members of the family and when they die we mourn about them like we will for a family member.
