In reading this, my heart goes out to you. I am so sorry to hear of your loss of Zoe. A year ago last month I also lost a very dear four-legged friend so I understand the heartbreak, well. JW

Yes it appears I have reduced everyone to tears this morning, me included. I'm sorry for your loss, and I mean that sincerely. Thank you for your kind words and for your feedback.

I always remember having to say goodbye to my best friend growing up, the family Alsatian. I was 15 years old and He was 13... it completely and utterly broke my heart at the time. Never had a dog since, But have awesome memories of him.. Shane was his name : ) Cool entry for the contest, a different approach is always good... good Luck!

I understand your sadness. Some people think that grief is restricted to humans. They are wrong. I have tears in my eyes as I'm writing this. Thank you for your kind words and for your feedback.

Our canine companions give us so much unconditional love - this poem exudes both joy and sorrow - for a wonderful Shepherd who was 'worth more than money can buy'.

A family pet qualifies as a "someone" in this contest, I'm sure. The problem we have is that we tend to project perfect human qualities of love and loyalty onto our pets. They become not only human, but nearly perfect humans. Good luck in the contest.

I', so sorry for your loss. Pets can often be as treasured as humans.
Your poem tells of this great affection you had for Zoe and how you will miss her.
Great rhyme and meter for a smooth read.
Good luck in the contest.

Mystery writer, I'm so sad for your loss. We too have lots of pictures of our Jess who was put to sleep over one year ago.
Any dog owner with understand your loss. They are more than friends, they become part of the family. It's nice to remember them in spite of some comments. And I hope you do well in the contest...

Enjoyed your story about Zoe. Great picture along with rhyming make the story easy to read and relate to. Dog is man's best friend as far as animals go. Yes our pets become like family and the love we have for them is very real.

Thanks for your tribute. A dog will teach you unconditional love and it is the only thing on earth that loves you more than you love yourself. If you can have that in your life, things won't be too bad.

So sad... Our pets, especially cats and dogs tear us apart when they have reached the end of their life. You have done well with this poem, dear poet - and your love for Zoe comes shining through.

Good grief, I did not expect to be moved and cry this much. I have two dogs and a cat I recently had to euthanize. It was like he was ready for it. But the grief stays around for so long, burning at your soul. A tragic write but a beautiful one R.I.P. lovely Zoe and much ove to you and your family xxx Meia
