I loved this very sad poem of your canine friend. I've lost a few and know the sadness and heartache. Congratulations on your win. Some great entries. Drew

Excellent ode and elegy to Zoe. It pained me to read your find words as I recalled dogs I had and a dog I have. Your love for Zoe comes through in tender rhymes and vivid descriptions such as in this passage:
Your last days on earth
Were full of laughter and joy
You're aged now but worth
More than money can buy
I get a bit teary-eyed reading this. Walking my dog yesterday, I thanked God for creating dogs who have given people so much love and companionship. They are part of the family. To lose them devastates our soul and sense of well-being, as you write here:
We have so many snapshots
Of laughter filled days
You will always be our soft spot
For your endearing ways
I don't think one ever gets over such a loss.
Thank you for sharing your loving tribute that would have made Zoe proud.
You have my condolences and best wishes in the contest.

Zoe sounds like an amazing dog who loved as much as she was loved. Great tribute to her and no, it's not at all surprising to continue missing her but as you said, she's pain free and left so many precious memories.

I knew as I clicked it I'd be tears by the end of it. I hadn't even started reading but I was right. There are tears in my eyes and the screen is blurry. I think this part said it all: You're aged now but worth More than money can buy
They are magical animals that almost heal us. I got my dog for my 12th birthday. I'd wanted a dog for a long time and then this one happened to come across my path, literally, I was on a walk when this lady asked me if I wanted her. My parents knew the couple and they reluctantly said I could have her. I had her for about nine or ten years and then I had to put her down. She went and did everything with me. She even moved cross country with me twice. When we put her down my dad went with me. My dog hated him but I think he even teared up. She was always in the middle of everything so we buried her in the middle of my parents backyard so she could always be in the middle of everything. It was perfect. I still miss her too. They aren't just dogs or animals, they are family

It is hard losing a trusted friend/pet, they are family with 4 legs. I have lost pets and this spoke to me in many ways. I liked it very much it touched my heart.

Your poem tells a lovely story of a beloved pet. Filled with simple, honest memories, yet so warm and dear. A precious pet, now laid to rest.
I too love dogs. It is always sad to see them go.
They live shorter lives than us.
They are wonderful gifts while we have them.

I feel your pain. I have had dogs all my life and they are all special. It is so hard to lose them but they do not live as long as humans. Excellent poetic form that captures the essence of Zoe's spirit.

In my opinion, a lovely poetic eulogy to a beloved friend - well constructed in its easy verse and smooth flow. I am certain it complies completely with the prompt, even though the subject is not human, I often think our pets could teach us a great deal about
humanity...
