Hi, I know this is long past the 'review' stage and the 'stars' are a mute point (have to put something to write to you I guess-- but just wanted to take the opportunity to thank you for posting this. It is remarkable and the emotion packed really needed no author's notes to have the impact it has. You are something else friend, and your friendship with your uncle must have been rich and fulfilling.
Smiles and blessings.

Oh, this is so eerie. How chilling to hear words like that from a dear uncle and know they were probably the last words you were going to hear. And it turned out to be the truth as you expected. A very powerful poem, Giddy

Yes, Giddy, I just reread my diary in which I noted that my uncle declined teacakes before my last visit. Ten hours after I wrote that entry, he died. Thank you for your heartfelt review and the final review of my poem before the certificate expired.

Such a great picture of you and your uncle! What a thoughtful thing to visit him with teacakes regularly. Yes, sometimes people know their time and he must have known. Well said in this poem - about the relationship, the caring and the supernatural sense of moving on from time on earth. May the Lord comfort you and his family.

Thank you, lyenochka, for your review and heartfelt condolences. Many reviewers have reported to me that their dying loved ones said or did something different and significant shortly before their deaths within hours or days. My aunt, his sister, is coming to the funeral and asks that I bake her teacakes, too! I hope it doesn't become her Last Supper.

A poignant and evocative memory portrayed here effectively within the confines of the 3 line poem format - simple statements can carry so much significance

It is chilling when a relative changes familiar routines because they feel death is imminent. Is this the prompt that calls for a five-seven-five or five- seven- seven
count? Looks like you nailed it.

Yes, LIJ Red, this prompt called for a five-seven-five or five- seven- seven. Many reviewers have shared with me their stories of dying loved ones saying something or changing their behaviors hours or days before their deaths. Thank you for your review.

Sis Cat,

A cute little number. The arrangement is understandable and effective. Telling things very plainly and comprehensibly. The artwork complements your poem.
I can only wish you the best of luck in this contest.

It's a very clean piece. I saw no typos or SPAG.

The words you chose worked well.

I look forward to seeing you again.

Love you,

Oatmeal

This is really nice and I'm sorry about your uncle. I think you should use more figurative language though for poetry requires exaggeration or becomes very blunt and story like instead of poetry like.

Thank you, Lilol, for your review and condolences. Blunt and story-like compliment my objective to craft a "poem" without exaggeration, figurative language, or poetic tools. I report the facts. Thanks again for your review and comments.

Oh, how sad for you. I am sorry for your loss, my friend. People do have ways of letting us know when their time is coming - especially if their body is giving out. Your poem is heartfelt and poignant.

Yes, I can relate to that sort of intense bond with a loved family member that would make you know every nuance in their speech and behaviour and hit the right conclusion.

Ye, apky, I had been baking and bringing my uncle his favorite teacakes for months. When he told me not to bring more on my next visit, I saw it at significant. He died five days later. Thank you for your review.
