Hi Mikey. Wow, four poems for the price of one! Unique, dramatic presentation that grabs the reader right from the get-go! Very well written, and much thought and effort put forth in writing this fine entry. My favorite part is "Once an ash is wet and swept away it is part of yesterday" ... love this!

Best wishes for the contest! ~ ~ Connie

Your poem - Ashes - is quite unique, Mike - a variety of styles that you've presented so well - I like the waterfall effect the best - a favourite of mine.

A great entry for the contest.
Good luck

Margaret

It is a great poem and I was delighted in the words and pictures.
The descriptive verbs and adjectives were also good.
I feel like it could use some clarity and structure.
Great poem.

Ah,
those burning bridges sever all chance of connection
Can a phoenix rise from ashes?
or is it just wishful mythology,
All the king's horses and all the king's men,
not even super glue, can hold yesterday together, again
"a sliver of thread
of a dream joined
the stream
looking for a current" --

tears of joy
tears of sorrow
one river

One love

Beautiful poetry

A phoenix for a poet

Ashes are just that ashes. Blown away by the wind in a blink of an eye for one reason or another it happens. Fires burn the go out what do you have ashes.n

Hi Michael
These poems were truly wonderful, a lovely density of sound, a subtlety of imagery, and a surreal connection of visions through a musical journey of ashes.
Excellent patterns of resonance are used to create just the right amount of language to set this amazing scene through four brilliant writes.

In my opinion, an amazing grouping, well constructed in its free flow and superb rhyme, - I read them more than once - I loved each verse - thank you for a stimulating and inspired read...

An attractive poem with great imagery that is not the happiest though it does happen...be it a break up or a forever one, the ashes...those remnants left after a relationship...Really don't think it was about a cremation of a loved one. When thinking of ashes, though yes, it did enter my mind, and mascara, which made your free verse a bit livelier, making me smile about that...Yes, it can be pretty heavy looking ash on some women or those who taking a liking to highlight or distract from one's looks, depending just how it is applied...& in this day & age, for those who are trans gender ( maybe they actually do a better job with their makeup to fool us all) ...And ciggies, well, they are the #1 ash that really is worse than anything ....Hubby was a smoker for so many decades & can't do that anymore with his recent heart attack & COPD & asthma & now lives with so many breathing devices, inhalers & RX's with all the ash he inhaled, he is very lucky. to still be alive, and just 1 clogged heart artery that needed a stent, after the big HA & an almost stroke was aborted with what they call, TPI administered with an IV the second day of his hospital stay...Though being he was so very active & just retired from many careers since he started working as a teen... think it could of been a lot worse).....And am so Thankful he still is here with me...the love of my life.

Best wishes for your entry & God Bless....C.
