Hi Maria. I'm familiar with the story, but your book review is very good. You've given any potential reader the information needed to make an evaluation without revealing the ending. Great job. Marilyn

A good report on a fantastic play and play write. It was actually on our literature list in high school and then I say it on TV with Sidney. It showed determination and survival. I agree it was well presented. I think it also made people more aware. Good report, thanks.

Thanks for your review, Aryr. Awareness is important. So I guess this play did what it was meant to do.

You are welcome Maria, I agree.

A very well-written book or play. Each family had their problems it doesn't matter what skin color you have. We all have to deal with our problems the best way we can.

Maria, superb essay and advice. I will put that play on my do read list. I loved the movie but never seen the play performed on stage. You show a passion for exploring other art forms despite the novel, although I am moving Austen's Sense and Sensibility up on my to read list. I may even write my own little reviews of books, plays, and movies I enjoyed. I find your essays informative. It is also good for encouraging people to read outside of FanStory instead of only FanStory.
Thank you for making my reading list grow longer.

One of my favorite movies. I think Mr. Poitier's performance should have won an Oscar but it was not to be. Just like Langston Hughes never won a Pulitzer. Words fail me! This is beautifully written. Thanks for sharing.
Have a great day and God bless.

I remember the movie and going to see it when i was young. I did not understand the color problem, i was ten, but the impact was one of praise and yet discontent. You did it justice

Yes, I guess it's not a film a ten-year-old can thoroughly understand...
Thanks for reading.
