I remember seeing the play and the movies and enjoyed them both
It was one of the best plays I saw in my young life.
Maybe because I could truly relate to the play.
Thank you for sharing.

Hi Maria; thank you for sharing your review of 'Raisin in the Sun.' I've watched the older version of the movie, as well as the new one. I much preferred the older version with Sidney Poitier. I think it was an eye opener in its time because there wasn't much thought given to the plight of the black people trying to move into white neighborhoods -- somehow these designations arose and no one wanted to change them.

I lived with a great deal of this in the New Jersey of the 1960s.

Your story is good and clear, very professional.

Folks migrating from the south led a lot of people to write about their experiences.
I see Oxford in your profile, it is a classy University.
When you have time read WIKI-
Piedmont (USA). I read it and I found out where
the rap and hip hop came from. There is plenty to write within ones culture and life experiences.
I had Spanish in 9th grade and some of my grand children have it now. I remember the numbers up to ten and some words. I came across a name, Arturo Alfonso Schomburg a writer and much more. Imagine a name like my name, Artura. He's not the one I had in mind.

Good luck in writing.

Maria, this is a great read. I am so glad you have the opportunity to read so many books. I only am able to read what i can get online as my eyesight requires me to have fairly large font. I used to red many books and miss being able to pick up a book and read. There is just something more pleasing when reading, than holding the book in my hand. The computer is just not the same. Good morning Maria. I do remember this movie and I have watched it again ands again. I also went to see the Broadway play. The third grade teachers took all the third grade classes on a school trip to see this play. This was an amazing thing for us as students, so young in a predominantly black elementary school. How amazing for these teachers to want us to see this play. It is a profound memory for me.

Thank you for this post. Your tribute to this story is remarkable.

Oh and just to let you know, I have re-promoted "Little Girl's Destiny" I hope you enjoy it.

You've done a great job with this review Maria. I watched the trailer, looks like a very emotional story, about an everyday family just trying to live their lives and get a better go for his children. Well done, something quite different,
cheers.

I remember the black and white movie well. Great story with good actors. Thanks for reminding me to look for it to watch again. A real classic. :)

Hi, Maria

= This is a great rundown of the story.
= It's been many, many years since I saw the movie ... can't beat Sidney Poitier either.
= "To Sir With Love" was another one of his good movies.
= Thanks for bringing this back for review.
