Wonderfully written with great and appropriate wording. Descriptions are awesome. "slash through the shroud of drifting mist". I guess with your 40 years of experience we can expect nothing less!

Your vivid use of words captures the feel and beauty of the sea. Even when she is rough, one is drawn to her. I like your last line about the sea as one of God's gifts, it is a fitting last line that sums up the poem. Excellent poetic form and use of words.

A beautifully written poem with a wonderful sense and feel to it. The imagery of the words and the excellent descriptive quality of your stanzas make the reader imagine that they're standing on the shore by the sea. The picture is the perfect accompaniment to the poem and emphasizes the poem's meaning very clearly. I can see how this poem won the Quatrain Poetry contest, a well-deserved win.

A very well-written poem and an excellent interpretation abd description of the artwork in poetic form. You took the reader into the picture and show the different stages of a new morning. Congratulations in winning the contest.

Great dramatic description of the sea. My favorite is the second stanza describing the seagulls "chase wisps of fog" and "skim the surf." The lighthouse seems symbolic of God's guidance and protection as the light reveals dangerous boulders and "slash the shroud of drifting mist." The setting makes the "peace" in God even more striking.

A very nice read for me on a Sunday and living now far away form any lighthouse, it brings back memories of when I did live close to the Atlantic and too the Pacific, and it was always a nice experience and with your picture it seems to take me back then years past and the peace I did find then when visiting the beaches next to these oceans, or even to picture of what your poem expresses, a different body of water...a stroll by the sea, in which, I can almost smell the salty water that sea breezes provide...and seagulls occupy...along always a lighthouse nearby...lighting the sea shore and beyond.
Best Wishes for your entry...C.

My husband and I were just talking about why it costs so much to have a house by the water. I decided that the houses are either run down or super expensive. There is no middle ground, which sucks because we also find tranquility by the sea/water.

You are so right about the cost of seafront property. For me to experience this scene, I have to visit my sister in British Columbia. Thanks for sharing. Rod

Nature will always be a source of inspiration in all its forms, it is amazing how creates peace with something too abruptly as a wave crashing against a rock. Good job.

Nature has a way of speaking to this writer in a variety of settings. Sea-scapes do offer much peace of mind. So pleased you shared this with me. Rod
