Barry rocks! This is a limerick like a limerick is meant to be. Smooth as silk, with a great pay-off. You certainly have a finely honed sense of humor!
At this point, your piece is in a neck and neck race with a much less deserving pretender. Good luck!

Absolutely brilliant. I had a good laugh over this. He made a wise decision - a yellow canary is easier than a wife! (lol). And less maintenance too, no doubt. How imaginative, and what a strike of genius! You almost have a perfect 9-9-6-6-9 limerick syllable count except for the last line which has 10 syllables. But to shorten that one is to take the zest out of the poem.
Bravo!

This speaks a funny act undertaken by Barry who never wanted to marry, once his heart was whirled by a yellow hair girl but he came back home buying a yellow canary bird; I liked.

Hahaha! I'm just glad my husband didn't go out and get a bird instead. Thanks for taking the time to read it.

Thank you for sharing this good natured limerick about a man who isn't fit to marry, but does want to share his love. I don't think canaries are all that cuddly, but to each his own.
Well penned and good luck in the contest,

I detect poem restrictions which turns out cute and a little funny. I like humor but you do realize, birds are very messy and finding a life partner might put a song in your heart. :) Maybe a little too silly for me.

Thank you for reading my poem. I'm lucky in that I had both birds and a guy. you are so right... Birds can be very messy.
