Connie - this typical of so many senior care centres. There's not a lot of fun to be had and many of them get NO visitors to break up the mundane routine. It's the worst of institutionalization. Sometimes survival of the fittest is a curse.
Excellent ABCB rhyme scheme with good meter and an excellent theme to choose to write about.

Hi Connie. This is an excellent poem and right on the money. I have two girlfriends who are CNA's in nursing homes. They are compassionate women and are overloaded with work. For a few to take care of so many is very hard. Sometimes those in nursing homes never get visitors and that is such a sad thing. When I moved from Tennessee to California my mom who lived with me had to be in a nursing home for a while. I'd talk to the people and help to feed them, too, as they had no one. Marilyn

Thank you, Marilyn, for your most thoughtful review, and good for you that you helped talk to and feed some seniors in a nursing home after moving to California.

I enjoyed reading your poem "Waiting always waiting". I think you have described this scene no matter what country you come from. You chose a lovely photo and you rhymed your poem well. I am hoping to stay away from there for awhile yet, but I believe they are a good place to end your days.

The title works well for your poem. They are always waiting, whether it be for food or for visitors. The picture goes nicely with it and the background color too. There is nothing I would suggest for you to change about your poem. Good job!

Oh, the silence....
There's little talk among this group.
In talk, most don't participate.

And the waiting...
and wait for visitors to come.

Let's just hope those visitors do arrive. So many old people get forgotten.

So sad but so sweet.
Today's seniors are sometimes dealt "A Bitter Deck."
The children gather round and take their "Booty" feeling that nursing homes are now THEIR DUTY!"
Nice piece and even though she may not remember much...
She senses that you love her much!

This poem makes me a little sad because my Mother just went into assisted living and she is really shy about meeting people. Well done. The flow is good and I can picture the wheelchairs all lined up. This poem makes me want to help these people find a voice.
