It would be super if all felt this way. We all need to be able to feel our freedom as we see fit [of course within laws]. We all have a free mind to do as we wish & if someone doesn't like it, then they can go do their thing. We need to respect that all people wish to be free. Jan

Very interesting take on freedom, Dip. I would think the only ones who would think freedom must be earned, would have to had their freedom taken from them somehow.
On the other hand, your first stanza:
"I take in the view, I take a breath
The air is pure, it cools my heart
I reach for my soul, it has such depth
Could not be truer, it has from the start"
would imply, just the joy of living, freedom of the soul, to delve into life as you wish. Nice write as always:)) ~Kerry

Thanks so much Barb as always. I don't understand what you mean by confusing?The poem is about freedom...freedom of choice, freedom to live, freedom to say what you want but mostly freedom to be alive There are those aspects in the poem and the last stanza substantiates and reinforces the the theme.

Hmm yeah but i think is was more leaning toward freedom to live as you please and not be a captive in one's own land
But freedom to do as one pleases comes into the equation for sure.
