It's useful having some input from 'the powers that be,' and it works well not knowing exactly what they're planning! When you see that picture of an albino child, it makes it easier to understand why people would be spooked by those red eyes. Today, they could wear glassers or contact lenses, but back then, it must have freaked people out. I hope this Sir John is nicer than the last one Veronica encountered - only time will tell!
Another great chapter, Sandra, and I can't wait for the next.
Hugs from France,

Thank you so much, Alexis, for this lovely review and all those shiny stars!!! Even now it scared the heebeegeebees out of some people, so, yes, it really would spook people out in the 1800s. Big hugs, my dear friend. :) Sandra

Hi Sandra, I'm glad to learn the child just has a medical condition and is not inhabited with a demon. I didn't know one with this condition had red eyes.

The full blown albino has white hair, a very pale face and red eyes. They have to be very careful of the sun too, as their skin is really sensitive. I've not met one, but there are some reviewers here that have. I was surprised at how many people there are, and also, black albinos, Curly Girly, (Nicole) told me they are pale with orange/ginger hair. You learn something every day! Thanks, Melissa, for reading this part, it's so nice to have your support. Big hugs. :) Sandra xx

Meg leant over and promised her

Petro leant forward and rested

I think the word is "leaned" ...

Other than that I didn't find any SPaG to mention.

I will say that there are a ton of different characters in your story and coming in at this chapter leaves me totally lost -- still a good read.

Thank you for reading and reviewing my story, Sisco. I can imagine this would be confusing to you coming into it now. This is the sequel to the first book, so many of the characters are already well established. But if you can bear with it, I'm sure you will soon catch on. Thank you for attempting it though and enjoying what you've read. The council only appear at the beginning of each chapter, and there are between 5 and 7 parts per chapter, so they don't come into it much. :) Sandra xxx

I enjoyed this, Sandra. You've changed things up this go around, which I like. Have you ever seen the movie or show called "Twelve Monkeys"? This part reminded me of it.

Have a great day!
Russell

I'm glad you liked this one, Russell. I had to make it different or it would have been just a rehash. I've been told that publishers like to know there are at least three books coming, so I'm going to do a trilogy in this series with Veronica and Mildred. I hope I can do it and keep the reader wanting more. That's the hard part. I remember the name, "Twelve Monkeys" but not the movie, I'll go on to Amazon and see if I can find it. Thank you, my friend, for reading and reviewing this part, and for sharing your thoughts on it. Big hugs. Sandra xxx

Hi (*<*)

= An excellent chapter, Sandra.
= Goodness, the picture almost looks haunting.
= Do you remember a movie out quite a few years ago, called, 'Powder'?
= The character was albino, and if I remember, had to do something with lightning, too.
= I did miss out on a lot when I was off-line, with Veronica and James having two children.
= Whew... (*<*)

Thank you, Jackie, for your lovely review. I don't remember that film, but now my curiosity is aroused, I'll have to see if I can find it on Amazon. Time goes fast, doesn't it? Already Veronica's children are 3 and 5 years old. LOL. By the time I get this story finished, they might be married!!! Thanks again, my friend. :) Sandra xx

LOL!! They do look a bit scary, don't they? So in a way you can understand Sir John's reaction, he's frightened of this child. Poor little thing. Yes, we have to look for Daveth's father, but that won't be easy. Lots for Veronica to sort out. Next is coming soon! LOL, you are funny, dear Linda!! Thank you for those 6 stars, you've quite made my day! Big hugs, and lots of love, dear friend. :) Sandra xxx

Ian is home now, he had an amazing weight loss of just over 3 stone. 44 pounds in two days! The doctor told Ian that the doctor or nurse who told him to drink nearly 4 litres of water a day, was totally out of order. With his kidney's not working properly, they couldn't cope with all that fluid and retained it. He just filled up until he couldn't move. He should be drinking just under one and a half litres! Honestly, what are these doctors doing? His weight loss was all fluid, all that had been building up inside him. He now has to keep an eye on it, if the water starts to build again, he will have to go back to the hospital. At least he is home and can go and watch his beloved football team play on Saturday! That is his one big pleasure in life! bless him. Life goes on. Much love, my sweet friend. :) xxxxx

Liked the story line which was very creative. The story is described in first person of the main character Veronica. It talks about the fate of a child with red eye, whose mother died and his father hate leaves him under the care of Meg and protection of Veronica. The readers are left in suspense and looking forward to reading the following chapters.

Thank you so much, Debbie. Yes, I'm back and raring to go. The reference to the 'mites' were the ones Mildred was looking at in the medical book that James was showing her and Veronica. I've never met one, but some reviewers have, and Phyllis had an albino as a neighbour. I've heard there are many people born without the melanin, some more than others. My character is a full albino, so he would look really frightening to someone who knows nothing about the condition. Thank you as always, my friend, for your lovely thoughts. Big hugs! :) Sandra xx

Good image choice for this chapter!
Whoo-hoo, it's freaky.
Francis is an albino.
Poor, poor, wee lad. That is a terrible thing to be both now and back then.
Back then, people were less educated and more superstitious. I can imagine many people being terrified of red eyes.
In Africa, it is not uncommon to see albino 'black' people begging on the streets.
This is an interesting story, Sandra.

What are albino black people like? White people have paler skin, white hair and red eyes and very sun sensitive skin. Some do have blue eyes, but they are as piercing as the red ones. Thanks for reading and reviewing, Nicole, I'm glad you like it. :) Sandra xxx
reply by Curly Girly on 20-Jul-2017
Most have white--pale gingerish hair. As they grow, they develop ginger skin blotches that can be disfiguring.
