Interesting. I noted at the top that you stated this work was A Sapphonic Triad. Yet, in reading it, I could not find a single sapphire no matter how hard I tried. :-)

I'm not sure if writing poetry is a gift or not. But, I can say I've written (post) a few poems - and don't feel gifted yet.

Anyone can write a poem, but being able to write GOOD poetry is a gift. Rules and rhymes can be learned but soul and emotion are what brings writing to life.

This is a great sapphonic triad on writing poetry. It has great flow, the correct number of syllables, & makes a good statement.

I believe you are right about each writer if gifted or learns to write poetry. So I guess I am saying yes to both. Good job & thanks for sharing. Jan

Well, I do think it can be learned, as many people on here can attest to. But I never learned anything...from iambic pentimeter?, to whatever. Someone told me once, 'Don't TELL anyone that...but it's true. I write by ear, ha ha. As some people play instruments..I hear a 'bounce'...if it 'bounces'...it's right. Love this, blessings....

Just off the top of my head, "Poetry is a story or statement...Drained of water" there's one for you. (Two meanings)
I think we all have theorised about it, but I'm sure you'll agree, it's not really confined to rules, as you wisely pointed out in this cleverly conceived work. (even though we challenge ourselves by making them (rules) it's really ego or pride) how about that? Parenthesis within parenthesis, heh heh. Well done, Patty.
