The art work is really
great for these words written
Loved the following words

"Writing poetry well, a gift?
Or is it learned?
Only you can decide."

I love the simplicity of this write, I fail misery with meter rhyme but do give it a try now and again, I love alliteration metophers and just let it go where it goes. I wish at times no rules apply yet understand why.
I believe poets have a heart for the love of words, and an inner eye to see things others miss. We hold an emotional compassionate empathic in our souls. Great write really enjoyed this.

Oh, my dear friend! I could have written this myself.
I started writing poetry when I joined Fanstory a year ago, but I know nothing about meter and rhyme. My solution? Free verse.
Having said this, I love your siphonic triad.
Thanks for sharing your sense of humor.

Good poem. Need to do something with the backing colour, a bit intense. I guess you know why I steer clear of all these poem regulations. Thanks for sharing, I love your stories.

Words should flow from the heart Patty and they don't always come out in great metre or in rhyme! I am constantly being criticised for my metre not flowing well, but sometimes changing the poem means it loses it's soul, and I did this once with a poem and ruined it! So poetry is not learned, it comes from within, it is raw and it is golden, your words are poignant and resonating for me, love Dolly x

Hey there Patty:

What an interesting and creative piece. I like how you added the definitions of poetry in the Arthur notes. You also gave us a further education by teaching the Sapphonic Triad form of poetry.

As to your question, I prefer to think and believe that poetry is truly a gift. It can be learned also but the most talented Poets, as far as I am concerned, are gifted.

I like this post, very nicely done.

I think it is a gift
Some people can write about trite circumstance and come out fine
Like you
You could write most anything
and it will sound fine
and have lovely content
In spite of the rules
and rhyme

I would start by asking myself what is a "perfect poem"? You say that rules elude you, but you seem quite caught up in the in's and out's of what poetry means. I would ask myself why do I write poetry, and I think that is personal for each and every one of us. I like your last line, which says, "Only you can decide". You bring up some thought-provoking ideas on writing poetry, which I like. As far as writing in a particular style called, The Sapphonic Triad, you appear to have done a good job of sticking to the rules. Well done and insightful. Thanks for sharing.
Take care, Jesse

Hi Jesse; thank you so much for your thoughtful and concise review. We do have to decide whether its good to us or not before we send our poems out into the world,

Yes, and I would like to add, that good or bad poetry is in the eye of the beholder. But, you are right. It is our decision whether we "send out poems into the world."
    Have a great weekend, Patty.

Writing a poem
is easy you say
How many poets do
You meet each day?
***
This is very well written with a smooth flow of words, making for a very good read. There is good imagery.
