Yes, goals are so important. We all have them in everything. Relationship goals are just as important but sometimes we go through life forgetting just how important they are to our present life and our futures. This lovely poem is a pleasant reminder of this

HI Waves, I so agree with that sweet one...it may take time to get to that goal...but once there....yeah...LOL...like trying to surf that one wave...the biggest and the highest one...and you finally do it...very well written you...and there is a great message in your poem...reach for the stars...love Linda xxoo

Dip, I really felt this poem. I attended an open mic last night, hoping I get to perform my "Get Up and Dance" song, but I arrived so late that I got the alternate position and didn't get to perform. But the host took me to the green room behind stage and gave me a free slot to perform at the next open mic. He also showed me the walls which had been signed by every act who had performed there. Seeing those signatures of singers and musicians made me say aloud, "Maybe I can sign my name there someday." This morning I started writing a new song.
So, yes, you gotta have goals. Every line of your poem spoke to me:
A goal, a dream, a memory
Gives you a will to live
although they may seem temporary
It's the hopes that each should give
Thank you for sharing. Now I must get busy song writing for my next performance.

So true. It's really important to have a goal in life. A dream. And of course love is essential as well.
I'm not so sure about memories... I want to keep the good ones, as for the others, I'd rather erase them.

I agree. Goals & someone to love are important in one's life. You did a great job expressing your thoughts/feelings. We all need a purpose to get up each day & we must find that & build on it.

A sort of an easy going philosophical work. You seem to interchange future goals with past memories. You've got the reader both coming and going, D. Then, the fourth stanza is not about a goal, memory, or dream, but a love. What I am trying to say, D., is that the work reads well and offers insight into different aspects of life, but because of that, there is an unmistakable element of vagueness. Or is it just me?

hmmm I am hearing you but I think you are are looking too deep into my poetry sometimes. My little brain is not that complicated lol. I don't know what to change here? Nah i'm just gunna run with it.

Yes indeed. If you don't have goals and dreams you have nothing to look forward to. they may not all happen for you but you have to try to live them.
