Well, that was a creative way for Ron to pop the question....
"Yea, but you could go out with me."
She dropped her head, and raised it slowly. Her deep brown eyes were hooded by the length of her lashes. A slow smile came to her lips, "I never thought you'd ask."
It takes so much courage for guys to ask--and sometimes girls decline, but this one didn't.

Cute, nit free, and interesting. This shipyard...which one, if any, are you basing it on? New England? Or Mississippi? I worked at the one in Ms. for a short while. That was quite an experience.

Hi there. This is actually the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton, WA. They overhaul the Pacific fleet. Jenny and I worked together in Supply way back in the early 80s.

Interesting. My short stint was between 1976-1978. I was a painter.

I was at PSNS from 1980 until 1984. As a Supply Clerk, I was mostly concerned with keeping the parts flowing through the new computerized system

This is a beautiful and romantic story my friend how shy they were and how Ron plucked up the courage to ask Jenny for a date much different to how things start these days I enjoyed regards Jill

Hey this is great. So glad to see this story is going to be a long one. It will be great to see the reasons for the adoption from the other side too.
Looking forward to this one

I never read previous stories about Jen ans Ron.
"We see one another on the bus (and) at lunchtime occasionally, but I'm afraid I don't know your name."
"Yea(h), and I do most of the woodwork on the ships. I make the fancy stuff for the captain's quarters."
Maybe this is another way to spell it.

I liked the story, it brought sweet memories. By coincidence I worked at the local shipyard and I met my husband in there too. Married 16 years now. I will try to read the rest.

thank you so much for the lovely review. Which shipyard did you and your husband work at? This one takes place at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton, WA

Oh dear, oh dear. We live in Bremerton, so we worked at PSNS. Code 290, I guess. Now they are all combined, sort of Radilogical technical thing. Do you live in Bremerton, then?
-
No, I left Bummertown back in 1984 when I met a sailor. I'm still married to him and we live in Keizer, OR.
-
I worked in Code 513 - Nuclear Supply

I liked your story very much. It is really a sweet meeting and it is quite touching how he made a plaque for her.
And the way she said 'I thought you'd never ask' is quite touching.

I have enjoyed reading this very much. I think I have also read about Jenny giving her baby up for adoption, but I can't remember well. Did you say she was a friend? Or is she a fictional character?
Thanks for sharing.

Hi Maria; Jenny is a friend. She told me her story a few months ago, and I'm working from my notes and then have her read and add to the stories as I tell them. She didn't tell me the story in order, so I'm re-telling the tale as she told it to me.
Thank you for reading,

Thanks for explaining. Looking forward to the next installment.
