Sandra, this is superb - a story in a poem, so cleverly told and well presented - a real pleasure to open up to - one of the best poems I've read in a long time. I'm so pleased I still have a six which it deserves.

What a lovely review, Margaret, thank you so much. Italy was everything I'd hoped it would be. We went to Pompeii, climbed to the top of Mt Vesuvius, travelled over to Capri, and walked along the Amalfi Coast seeing some beautiful gardens there. And on the last day we went to Rome to visit the Vatican. That was an experience all on its own! Thank you so much for the 6 stars, my friend. I see I have some catching up to do, you've started a new story since I've been gone!!! Brilliant! :) Sandra xxx

I am back in India now--still settling in and getting over jet lag.
This delivers a strong message with finesse, dear Sandra. Excellent flow and rhyming and phonetics. good narrative style. I might have chosen different punctuation options (like periods instead of commas in some places) but it reads smoothly as is, so I am not making suggestions (*unless you ask me for them) except just two:
*about a happy(,) privileged town, where you might wish to go.
*
You see, one day(,) a woman came, so tired, old and worn,
Perfect closing note and favorite lines:
The town would be their penance for their ugly inner sin,
for beauty on the outside is no good if not within.
Enjoyed this.

Hi, dear Sandra. I've been living in India as my main home for almost 30 years. THe last few years, though, I am going back and forth with America. Do visit India one day--its another planet!

A nicely rhymed poem with good flow and a good match to the picture. They say beauty is only skin deep, the inside quality is of prime importance.

How very true! I'm hideously ugly on the outside (sort of) but I like to think I'm a kind, caring person under all the sagging and wrinkles. :)
