Another well written chapter of this story. I was surprised that you included asterisks in front of certain terms, but your author's notes do not give the definitions. Was this an oversight?

I am familiar with the terms, so it didn't distract from reading the piece.

Thank you for sharing,

Yes, they were oversights on my part. I meant to remove all of them because people probably do know the definitions of them'
Thank you for the rating and catching that.

What an imaginative and excellent plot you've woven into the narrative, a black, or, at least half-black girl, gets to inherit all of her father's estate, as will much to the chagrin of the partners and the Vermells. I wonder where this will take us? A good plot, graced by a collection of interesting, and probably, potentially toxic characters, well done, an entertains episode, blessings, Roy

This is an interesting story and setting, nicely written. The descriptions and dialog read very smoothly.

The only problem I had may be incorrect in that I haven't read the earlier parts. However, the following line seemed to not fit.

Are you saying you don't want the money or anything else I've offered you?"

In reading it, it seemed to me she simply expressed surprise; something that seemed a perfectly normal reaction to how the amended will bequeath to her. She never said she didn't want it. The exchange seems to need more.

Enjoyable chapter and nice posting.

Thank you for your wonderful review and rating. Yeah the other parts explain her reaction and the outcome will be further explained in the next chapters.
    I'm glad you enjoyed it.

How exciting! Surely the folks won't approve and will do what they can to prevent her from getting her hands on Frank's treasures. I can't imagine being black and having black slaves. I wonder if she would treat them any better.

this is my first read of your story and I found it to be very interesting--one indeed that I would like to continue reading (many I read are not). The premise is unique and I after living in the south I fear the girl is faced with a terrible dilemma. Your descriptive passages are fine and the dialect accurate. I did not discern if this was a contemporary setting or something from the past.

Thank you for the wonderful review and rating. I'm very glad you enjoyed. It is set in 2000's but lapses back to the nineteenth century living. I have more to write on the subject.
