You and your dogs! This is a great entry for the dialogue only contest. I love how you describe their differences so fluidly, Patty. This is funny, and moving, and now I wish I could meet them.

Hi Marla; I would be glad to have you meet 'the boys.' I have no idea of how far apart we are geographically! I hope this entry is original enough to catch the eye of the Contest Committee - I haven't done well in any of the site sponsored contests I've entered - though I hear that isn't too uncommon.
Thank you so much for reading,
~patty~
Comment from Meia (MESAYERS)
"But, Howie, you have those little teeth on the bottom that stick out in front of the others. I always wonder how you can even chew your food."
"At least I look like some sort of a breed. You just look like a mutt."
"I'm hansum and a good boy. The Mistress says so. You're just plain mean. I'm not talking to you anymore, Howie."
"That will be a relief. Talking to you gives me a headache."
"Hey Howie! Looks like the Mistress is done on the screen thingy. Let's go ask for a treat. Will you do that thing where you wave your feet in the air? She likes that." LOL SUCH a cute entry to the competition, this is fantastic Patty well done I love your dog dialogue! Brilliant love Meia xx

Hi Meia; thank you so much for the lovely review. You know how much I love to write about 'the boys.' This was fun, and I hope its original enough to catch the eyes of the contest review committee.

Comment from Ann Philips
The dogs are very cute and the story is amusing. It's always fun to try to tell a tale from an animal's perspective. I did enjoy the diction used to give the dogs personality ( I suspect I learned more about you and your view of the dogs).
I admit I struggled with my natural inclination to edit it (example: the multiple "and"s in an early sentence) into something more familiar tugged at me... but, even I, understood that would have been wrong. So I find it takes rereading to truly appreciate it. It is something, likes a puppy, that grows more comfortable with time.
The story is playful and light, The interaction between the dogs is delightful.

Hi Ann; thank you so much for taking the time to read this bit of fun. I love getting into the minds of my dogs and I suspect I put more detail about ME into their stories - I'm glad you caught that,

Well, you know I enjoy your doggie stories - I wouldn't get anything done indoors if I had those two cuties.
You should call Howie "Tatty Head" - he looks like he's just got out of bed! My Cairn always got up with her hair sticking out on one side and flat on the other where she laid her head - sigh - I do miss her.
thanks for making me smile, Patty.

Hi Margaret; I do know how you enjoy these stories - how well I remember how you plead for 'happy doggy stories.' LOL. I had a lot of fun writing this one. Howie usually looks better - he needs to be groomed again; they have an appointment after the 4th of July weekend.
Thank you for the thoughtful and kind review,

Patty, I think I'm beginning to get the ideas of what is an ideal story on the site. Now, I have to clean up my a few I've already written and continue my workshop on my grammar of past and present tense. I love this nice story; it is universally readable. You craft excellent stories.

Hi Phillip; thank you so much for the lovely compliment! I'm glad you are beginning to find your own style of writing. I'm looking forward to reading what you've come up with,

I only have the site's preference of what a good story is. However, I need to get back in the practice of writing creatively so finding the time is the problem as I read to learn but, it's a time management issue for me to work out.

Good morning, Patty
So we are in the minds of Bernie and Howie. Interesting how one doesn't like the other until it's time for treats then the animosity is put on hold. Enjoyed.
If often wondered what my two dogs would think about . . . but being brother and sister, probably not what Bernie and Howie feel.
Take care and stay safe.

Hi Ray; thank you so much for this kind and thoughtful review. One of the reviews was concerned about my sanity - instead of talking 'to' my dogs; now I'm talking 'for' them.
Haha - I just simply enjoy writing from their point of view,

Hey, that's a dog-lovers prerogative. Talk on
Take care and stay safe,

You have such an insightful imagination of how your pets would converse if they could speak. My daughter's dog almost talks to us and now that the children are becoming teenagers, he is the only member of the household to give me a welcoming greeting, apart from my kind and caring daughter that is, another delightful doggy tale, love Dolly x

Hi Patty, I saw one other of this dialog only thingy and yours is a perfect addition to the contest. I love the conversations your two dogs have. You make them real to the rest of us. Good luck and well done! xoxo Kiwi

You write a lovely dog story. We should combine out talent and write a combination dog/cat story. I'll lend you Mistress Bess and you have Howie and see how that goes. LOL Sincerely Anne
