Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level

In so few words you have painted such a picture, the art work fitted so well.

When I read these powerful words, I felt the true impact. Not a forgotten truck, but the forgotten man, who served so selflessly. Sad, broken left to fend for himself.

Prayers for our Veterans all over the world.

Thanks for sharing. And good luck in the contest.

Oh, how just "nailed" intention here, Ann. "Not the forgotten truck, But the forgotten man," exactly It is amusing to see how many interpretations I have received on this one. I treasure all your "exceptional," but this one is special.

thank you so much for sharing this tribute to our Veterans. I'm left wondering why the vet would've left their dog tags. Mine are one of my most prized possessions.

Well done - great picture,

One reviewer wrote this - "it's not about the forgotten truck. It's about the forgotten man" My husband and son have both served, in fact they are both Naval Academy grads. So the subject of abandoned Vets is very near and dear to my heart. I'm glad you treasure your "tags" Wonderful review.

I enjoyed reading your lune 3-5-3 poem "Abandoned". It is a sad story and like many of our vets - abandoned like your old chevy.
Best of luck in the contest.
Marybell1.

I used to have a truck like that. A lot of that will buff out. This is a very good poem and will make and excellent contest entry. I wish you the best and hope you win.

That is so true. It's really amazing how people complain about materialistic things they don't have yet they don't honor the freedom that was given to them.

This was written for one of my best friends, who served in Nam. Hes's gone now, but I miss him to this day. People don't realize, that just "DON'T" get over war.

Hi, Val. Your little poem does what all good poetry does and gives the reader more than straight surface value - your last line forces us to consider the plight of many vets who are as abandoned or left behind as the old truck.

Good entry for this contest.

Steve

Yes, too many men have suffered in war, and then been ignored. We all need to serve in some way. Thank you for the review.
