You're back with my buddies and their cute little ways, Patty. I really marvel at how you're able to very convincingly get the reader into the characters of Bernie and Howie. You descriptions are so vivid that I could see the little chap here:

Howie stood up to stretch his little body. Placing his forefeet out in front of him, he bent at his waist and listened to the muscles in his body snap and crackle. The rounded face and severe underbite made for an adorable dog. Howie knew it and played to people with his looks. His best trick was to stand on his back legs and beg with his front feet. The Mistress called it 'Pretty Feet,' and he could always win a special treat from her by using this ploy.

A welcome and enjoyable read.

Your dogs are adorable, and your story shows why so many people own an animal as these two, though everyone claims there pet is unique over any other, which is so true...And they are man's best friend, and can be a woman's, too... if given even basic needs and lots of love and attention...do really help us humans get through so much...those who take to animals as these...and with your photos show just how so very cute they are.

If it wasn't for a border collie years ago, who was so very intelligent, actually saying all 3 of my kid's names & myself, who I taught to talk as had a lot of free time so many years ago, and Boy, did he ever surprise me with doing just that... just such a good pet for my family then that just came to us in the nick of time...as it seemed...he needed us as much as we did him...such a Godsend, Dear Poncho, was.

Very enjoyable! You have great agility in narrating your stories from different perspectives. I loved how your puppies refer to you and your husband as "the Mistress and the Man." Well done and very sweet story. Those pictures are adorable!

Sigh. What a cute story. Your little one reminds me of one of mine - Scotty - he's a small 2-year-old St. Charles spaniel. He's cute as a button, very loving, very spoiled, extremely picky when it's mealtime, and believe-or-not, the aggressor when my two dogs play despite the fact that Spock is a mid-size 4-year-old boxer/terrier/pit bull mix.

Both are rescue animals.

And yes, I am running a Star Trek theme here when it comes to naming them. JW

I love your dogs' names. I always name my pets on a theme. Howie is named after Howard on the Big Bang Theory, and Bernie is named after 'Bernadette,' Howard's girl friend. (Of course, Bernie is a male, but it works.)

I'm pretty sure both of my boys would be very aggressive towards big dogs - they both have short man's complex!
