This is a really wonderful poem of man and nature connecting. It brought goosebumps to my arms. Mysterious and mesmerizing emotions cast by these words. Loved it.

Hi, Dorothy, thank you so very much for the lovely six stars! I really appreciate them, and the lovely review. I'm glad you enjoyed my poem, I've got a soft spot for wolves, but I'm not allowed to have one for a pet! LOL. :) Sandra xx.

I felt like I wanted to sit very still reading this.
Almost whispering this review now!
What a tight spot this man could have been in. Instead, his brief encounter was filled with tension and hesitance culminating in mutual respect.
This is a well told tale in a poem.
Thank you for sharing : )

Hi, Sandra

= Nice capture of man and the wolf meeting on an even playing field of the mind.
= You meshed the two nicely. Good job. (*<*)

Cheers ... Jax (*<*)

It's been said that music soothes the savage breast, and it worked here.

What a lovely story told in rhyme. The man was wise not to move, but I would never have thought of singing to the wolf.

The rhyming and meter are excellent. My favorite: "The wolf was listening keenly to him croon, while standing proudly with his head held high. The look he gave soon changed from fearsome scowl, an ancient wisdom came into his eyes." That was very stirring. 8-)

aww, thank you so much, Yvonne! Those 6 stars look lovely shining down on me!! Now you know what to do the next time you are confronted by a wolf, just sing it a lullaby, LOL. Bless your heart, my friend. Big hugs, Sandra. xxx

Years ago, my youngest son and I were visiting an sanctuary for lions and tigers. The lady who owned it simply walked into the enclosure with the beasties. One young, but large, one slipped out and was frolicking about. My soon took off running while I stood still. I told him later he would have been the target if the lion had wanted him. He said he didn't care. If it caught him, it would have to be by his running butt. LOL

Crikey, the lion got out? And you stood there? I know it was the right thing to do, but I think I would have either run, like your son, or passed out!! LOL. I'm glad nothing went wrong and you were both safe. :)

I stood still because I knew he'd chase me if I didn't. The keeper came and got him. It was a 50/50 chance he'd pass me by. Whew!

That had to be one of you scariest moments! What a tale to tell your grandchildren. :)

They already think I'm goofy in a fun way. I'm known as Crazy Granny. Lovingly, of course. We have a good relationship. They can embellish it and pass it on to their grandchildren. lol

Hi Sandra
Really enjoyed this beautiful poem about the wolf, which flowed effortlessly,
lovely rhythm and rhyme throughout with some wonderful lines within.
I particularly enjoyed the last two lines which completed this excellent poem tremendously well.

Thank you for sharing this beautiful poem. I love how you portrayed the communication between the wolf and the man. "that stirred the air between them with a sigh"......I can almost visualize the air sighing....:)
I would love to write children's books someday. This has been a lifelong dream of mine!

If it's been a dream of yours for a long time, you must do it. I've written a few children's books, and it was fun doing it. I began writing them for my children but didn't do anything with them until my grandchildren arrived. It is lovely to see them with your book in their hands, smiling as they read your stories. Thank you so much for your lovely review, Kathy, and welcome to FanStory, you will find us a friendly bunch of writers. I went over to read yours. :) Sandra xxx

Thanks for the pleasure of reading another of your fine poems. I would rather encounter a bear in the woods than a wolf. Not that a bear can't do as much or more damage, even quicker than a wolf. But they would both be skinny beasts if they planned to feed on me, because they wouldn't be getting anything but poop and tennis shoes. LOL! Sorry, sometimes I just can't help but be a little silly. Great job. :-)

Aww, thanks, Nancy! I know most animals can be soothed with music, if I'm ever in the situation that I come fact to face with a wolf, I'll start humming!! LOL, it will either be a very quick death to shut me up, or he'll run! I'm pleased you enjoyed it, my friend. Big hugs :) Sandra xxx

Sandra, I could hear/feel and even smell the crisp tension in the air by the way you used the words in your poem. I'm very familiar with the yip of the wolf and coyotes as we have an abundance around our small farm. I like, as well, how you had the two creatures (man and wolf) consider one another. Familiar, but faint recognition, curiosity engrained in their and our DNA. Wish I had six stars. Well done, nonetheless. Loren
