This poem is well written. It is excellent advice against bullying. But it also addresses the fear people feel when trying to take action. Thank you so much for sharing your work. Good Luck in the contest.

I liked your topic for your rictameter but unfortunately you did not follow all the rules. e.g line three should have six syllables. If you remove belligerent you will have six. You may wish to review this.
Best of luck.

A very well-written Rictameter. Bullies are everywhere. Their field of play even stretch to the internet. We have to be careful for the bullies we cannot even see, they are using false photos to miskead their prey.

This rictometer, About a Bully, is set up correctly and tries to identify what constitutes a bully. I can tell you from the psychological aspect the bully doesn't have low self-esteem. He/she feels superior to the ones bullied. The idea that he/she has low self-esteem is more a Hollywood concept.

Thank you for the read and your comment. I believe the bully needs to believe he/she is superior, because there is a deep inner concern with in the bully's mind and heart that he/she is not worthy.

What you refer to is a person acting out what he has been taught to project situational control through domination. A bully actually believes he/she is morally, physically, and mentally superior to others, and will take steps to prove that belief to others.

Thanks for the reply. I will consider a revision. Apparently there are two types of bullies. Aggressive as you described and passive described as Passive bullies, unlike the ultra-confident aggressive bullies, tend to be insecure. They are also much less popular than the aggressive bullies and often have low-self esteem, few likable qualities, and unhappy home lives. Passive bullies are very quick to align themselves with and display intense loyalty to the more powerful aggressive bullies. I agree most people think of bullies as you described. Thanks for taking the time to respond.

Your final note "Bullying will continue unless by the bully unless he/she is confronted" needs serious attention to detail, and should read "Bullying will continue by the bully unless he/she is confronted."

The only to stop a bully is, as this poem depicts, tell someone what is happening.

Stand up to a bully, they disappear. So true.

Should make an interesting entry into this contest.

A fine example of this uncommon poetic style and I appreciate the lesson as so very well presented. The artwork is splendid and carries the poem's message very well. I cannot offer anything to improve this work and thank the author for a fine read. HIS GRAYNESS: Vance

Very well written in a form that doesn't appeal to me personally. But you did a very good job of it; incorporating a current issue and solution in it. Good luck.

You've written a great poem.
Bullying is happening more often now. What was once pushed under a rug is now the center of attention. It's wrong to bully others. Adults are bullies too- that's how the children learn so fast.
Great artwork. The image shown supports the topic discussed. The background selected goes well with the art and color of font chosen.
Best of luck to you in the contest.
Thanks for sharing your Rictameter.
Good luck with your future writing.

I'm sure everyone's had to face a bully at some point in their life. For me, it was at school. This snooty girl told her boyfriend to throw a dead mouse in the new girl's locker. The new girl being a tomboy that I am, picked up the rodent by the tail with some toilet paper and threw it at her. The horror on her face, her high-pitched scream as she knocked over everything trying to get away was priceless and well worth the trip to the principles office. They left me alone after that.
Great poem, thanks for bringing back a funny memory.

Good picture. You are right, we give bullies power if we are scared of them, we give them the power to frighten us, make our lives miserable. Love the shape of your poem. It flows well with good rhythm. 'One finds him at school and in the workplace. ' unfortunately it's not just in the playground, they follow us to work! MaggieF

And don't forget cyberspace. One of the most demoralizing places to meet a bully. Thanks for the read and your comment.
