I'd say you pegged the family pretty good with this whimsical poem, patty. I especially love the concluding line, because it has just enough a social nip to be fun and truthful.

A very well-written Move Otto. Family is the most important issue, especially for any mother. She wants to keep her children safe and see them happy, even when they can take care of themselves.

This is also a wonderful subject, of course for your poem. What could be a stronger subject than family. We all have that in common, well most of us anyway and I agree, "Mother's love always has a fee." Also everything else you said in your poem was right on the nose, a splendid choice of each eight syllables per nine lines.

We all have that in common, well most of us anyway and I agree, "Mother's love always has a fee." Also everything else you said in your poem was right on the nose, a splendid choice of each eight syllables per nine lines.

Patty,
As much as families love one another, there are usually issues, especially among the siblings. There are rivalries and jealousy at times. You can choose your friends, but you can't choose your blood family.
Your creatively addresses some of those issues. Well-done with the poetic form.

This follows the criteria nicely and is an easy read. I feel a barb through the words.It is hinted at subtly to be missed by some but I'm sure readers who know you will pick it up. LOL

The message presented is real and sometimes disturbing. For indeed, there is always that rivalry between the siblings, if not among them. The observation is keen, but as the mother sees what is going on, she is torn with sympathy. And the writer presented the message with understandable misgivings.
