Thanks for sharing this story, MustangPatty1029.

In reading it though, my mind was filled with memories and a tear escaped down my cheek.

Until last July, I had a very special dog. A 10-year old Lab I had owned ever since he was a 3 month old pup. Words cannot describe the both we shared.

Unfortunately though, Peedy got cancer.

You'll learn more about him in the next fiction novel I plan to post Super Flea. JW

Hi; I'm so sorry my story brought back bad memories. Howie is doing well, though I really feared it was a tumor. I look forward to reading your story, and I will have my tissues ready,

I afraid you will not need any tissues in reading Super Flea. It's going to be a humorous story, and I will not be responsible if find yourself suddenly laughing while reading it. :-) JW

"That would be great. I'm so glad it's all over. Who knew a four-year-old dog could get a hernia?" Her laughter put Bernie's mind at ease. He hadn't heard her laugh in a few days.

"Uh huh. See you tomorrow then."

She bent over and ruffled his ears. "Bernie! Howie will be home tomorrow. It wasn't anything bad--it was just a simple operation and he will be just fine."
I am so glad he was fine, he is absolutely gorgeous well done a great write love meia x

I'm so happy for both you and Bernie, and of course for Howie. He's only four and has a lot of years left to play with Bernie. I lost my littlest, youngest dog to cancer in March, and today Mark took the biggest, oldest one to the vet. I was so relieved to hear he didn't have cancer, but just arthritis. Doc gave him pills for the pain. He'll be 15 soon, so it's no surprise. :)

Hi Phyllis; so glad to hear your dog only has arthritis. I was so worried about Howie for a few days; I feared it was cancer - they couldn't identify the growth at first,

We get too attached to our pets, and dogs only live to about 15. Sigh...

What a relief to know it's only a hernia. :)

Awwww! I know how you feel. I'm so glad that Howie is coming home and is all fixed up. Your story is wonderful--sweet, touching, and amusing. Companion animals do miss each other if they are separated from us and them. Great job. Marilyn

Poor baby. But all seems well. At least it will be when Howie gets to come home.

Thank you for the story. I know dogs [& cats] get used to others of their kind & know something is different/wrong when the others they are used too aren't around.

You did a great job with the POV. I liked the line about Bernie wanting to chew on the eraser.

Good job. Jan

This is a good story. I remember when I took my cat in for a "simple Operation." When he came home he couldn't make kittens anymore. He didn't speak to me for two weeks.

Hi Thomas; cats really don't like operations - especially that one. They seem to take it very personally,

Dear patty, Good story about one of your pets. Bernie really must have felt Howie's absence, and could sense it from you. As we both know, animals are very sensitive, maybe sometimes more than humans. I'm glad Howie was all right! Dove
