It is a question we as ourselves all the time. Though some of us know what format we will write in but we don't know the topic. Or maybe vice versa. We all fear the answer may be nothing.

Keep writing

Many times I will face a day of the blank page and nothing seems to come, and other days the ideas are flowing like a white water river. Many blessings for the rest of this week. i hope you had a nice holiday with family. Patricia

Hi Patricia; thank you for your time to read and review. Yes, the blank page syndrome seems to be feast or famine,

In my opinion, a marvellous study of the writers' dilemma when the muse is a bit slow in responding. I know this feeling too well, and I rest a bit, sometimes longer. The poem is well constructed, easy, fluid in movement and lyric free verse - I loved it...

Hi Eve; thank you so much for this lovely review. I was greeted by a flurry of thoughts this morning - but nothing concrete. And so, I wrote an appeal to my muse,

This was a very enjoyable read Patty. Many will identify with what you ave written. I find the more I try the less chance I have of finding something to write about.

Well done

Hugs

Well whatever you write, I'm sure its going to be received very well, as always... :) The random thoughts you have penned down is a pretty good poem itself! Lovely. Regards.

Hi Leena; thank you so much for the lovely compliment. I hope the character will show her face and stop lurking in the corners, and then I can get on with the story!

Dear Mustang Patty,

Mirror, mirror on the wall what oh what can I write today. Come on quick grant me my wish and let a character pop into my head. (LOL)

Warm regards,

Winslow

Hi Winslow; today's character continues to lurk in the corners of my mind. I've outlined her story, but she is yet to show me her face. Just a glimpse,

Thank you for inviting me into your thought process. I must confess, I never have faced a blank page with nothing to put on it. Words start roiling in my head and I wait until I can no longer stand to have them playing indoors and let them out. Then the work begins in earnest. I run to the computer several times a day, and each morning, during my 4:40 - 6 am dedicated writing time, play with the words from the day before or anything they lead me to. But I think that each of us is delightfully different in our approach. I love the "glimpse of a character" as if it is peeking around the corner of your mind. Nicely done Patty.

Hi Wendy; thank you for the insightful review. The character is lurking in the recesses of my mind, but she is stubborn. I've outlined her story, but I still cannot see her face. Let's say my next story is a 'work in progress.'

When in doubt write about what shall you write about. This is as good a way to beat the block as any I know I reckon. A free verse ramble that both answers your question and achieves your aim. And the cursor flashes at trhe bottom of of the screen. A clever solution to a problem well understood.

Hi Jim; thank you so much for reading and reviewing this little poem. I was inspired by the missing inspiration - LOL! (Truth be told, the story is still formulating in my head, and the main character is being a bit stubborn.)

It's a nice depiction of what writers go through each day when it's time to write. The poem is the thought process itself. It's almost as if it's meditative. Good job.

thank you so much for stopping by to read and review. I often look at the blank page and end up stymied NOT about how to write or the fear of the blankness - but overwhelmed by choices,
