This is great. Just loved your monologue to the houseplant. Well done, amusing and you've touched upon all the problems plants can have. Good job and much luck in the contest. Marilyn

Thanks, Marilyn. I love plants, but sometimes I wish they could speak.

I never had success with plants until I learned 2 things. If a plant isn't doing well, change it's location (more sunny or more shady). Touch your finger to the dirt. If dirt is dry, water it. I killed many plants by overwatering or under watering. Marilyn

Lol! Well done story which made me chuckle throughout. All are the typical responses that someone trying to keep a plant alive goes through but then there's the added stress of the job on the line and oh dear, the cat!

Also on the bright side, you've written a excellent story
and entry for the contest.
Very fine development of the increasing tension
and predicament
The internet is such a great source of contradictory information
Excellent humor, too
Well done
Better luck in the contest than with the ficus

You have fulfilled the requirements of the prompt with a truly imaginative story. I liked the fact that you were speaking to the plant and facing the dilemma of not really knowing how to take care of a plant. You could have saved a lot of anxiety by just letting it die and buying a new one. PS the surprise ending of losing the cat was the icing on the cake. good job
