Karyn,

I like this idea -- make the POACHERS extinct instead of the poor animals! I am always amazed when I see people NOWADAYS who still BRAG about participating in big game hunting. --sigh-- I understand hunting for the purpose of providing food, but not for the purpose of enlarging egos. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for your great reply to my poem, Robyn. It scares me or think so many nimals will one day be gone forever.

This is a powerful and truly well-written haiku. The ah-ha line at the end is perfect! You are incredibly clever, my friend. (I miss you. Where are you?) Love, MM

A clever satori line. Skillful juxtaposition of saving and erasing. For sure the poachers couldn't make a living if the good guys didn't turn their eyes.

Thanks for your kind review and comments, Shari. I agree the nations need to remove the reason why these animals are slaughtered. International meetings have been assembled. but there's sure lots of obstacles to overcome.

I'll second that emotion! They ought to sponsor
Poacher Safaris. Let the hunters be hunted.
Nice topical take on this prompt.
Activism is a good thing.

Best of luck.

Peace, Lee

Your haiku has an interesting message. I enjoyed the irony presented of saving endangered species by causing the extinction of a "species." Very well thought out and well done. Best of luck in the contest.

A perfectly done haiku with the two lines of connceting imagery and the final line the satori that makes the connection. I can take the last line two ways, one as the poacher is causing extinction and two as the poacher becomes extince
