Tony, your Cinquain poem, Rest in Peace, is so deserving of a six, and now have none. And being it is so difficult to lose a loved one, leaving those left behind with still concern and wishing their departed the best which the afterlife will hold for them, we still have to say our good-byes; our adieus Being, too, for most of us, sorrow follows their death which is expressed in your second Cinquain.

Thanks for sharing...Caressa_08

How lovely the cinquain, Tony.. Your gentle words so suited to this beautiful form demonstrating the sadness you feel at this time. We join with you, Giddy

Oh my. This is just so beautiful Mr. Tony. 'Be still, I bid you still'...there is something so very poetic and aching about this phrase. This is wonderful. I am out of sixes...so sorry, this is most deserving! Blessings...

This poem portrays the sentiments of a person saying farewell to a loved one who has died.
Be still. Alas, there is no choice; but perhaps he is willing the spirit to rest peacefully.
Best wishes in the contest, Tony.

It starts like a lullaby but then "night's cold breath" sounds a lot like death and the first stanza ends with "adieu" so there is separation. The second stanza shows the mourning of the protagonist's beloved who is still in the grave. Well done.

Perfectly done cinquain for the contest and one of sadness but still upbeat. Saying goodbye to one that is loved is hard but you did it so very well.

This is an interesting pair of Cinquain poems. They are paired together with some variation of lines, but on the same topic and slight differences. Smoothly written. Much luck in the contest. Marilyn

Tony,
This is a great contest entry. Good job on the style. The words + image work well together. I like the way you repeated the 2nd line & the bit of rhyme. Your words have a lot of imagery in them.

Good job & best wishes in the contest. Jan

You just KNEW I would feel compelled to read this, what with the dark, foreboding accompanying artwork and all, didn't you, Tony?
Well...you were right... read it, I have.

This is spooktacular, in a lovely sort of alluring way.
It has shades of the old classic bards, such as Poe, and Dickinson.
If this doesn't win the Cinquain poetry Contest based of what I have read of these thus far (and I've read a LOT!), then, is there no justice in the voting process here for site sponsored contests?

I very much appreciate your kind words and encouragement, Dean - also the six stars. Your influence must be rubbing off on me, for I'm currently struggling with another macabre offering - though a somewhat more light-hearted one! Best wishes, Tony
