Diane, this story is outstanding in every way. I could feel the love you had, as well as the grief. The many coincidences (or not) were fascinating. Reading this was worth far more than all the scrolling to find it. Thank you for sharing it with me.

Your students were blessed to have you as a teacher. Not all teachers create bonds with their students. This is the second story I have read by you that is centered on a student that had a special meaning in your life.

    Hello Thomas,
The incidents in the story may seem far-fetched to some, but it all happened as I shared.
Thank you for the complimentary review; I miss teaching very much.

    Take Care,

This is an excellent story. I did notice that it was originally posted in May of 2017. I'm glad you shared it again. I do remember your story from last week (Marcus) and must say, your experiences as a teacher in school are memorable.

Though this story has a sad beginning and middle, I think you delivered at the end. Of course, it's biographical, and the memory of Anna is most important. But the way you told the story is special. I think the strength of this post is how you organized the information. You did bookend the beginning and end which doesn't always work, but this did.

I did look for spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors. I found none. I think you were in charge of this narrative from the beginning.

Thanks for posting.

    Thanks, Dan!
I posted this at a time when I was more than a little inactive on the site. How it was nominated to be ?Story of the Month? is beyond me. Only four members reviewed it at the time.
I will never forget ?Anna?s? brother sharing that the bear had been
    found after thirty years.
Thank you for your kind review...

    Hello Sharon,

It was nominated as the story of the month in May 2017. I had just posted it, and having not been on the site for years, it didn't have much of an audience. I just wanted to share it again. Still moves me...

    Thank you!

Hi there,

A very good write here. The pathos and emotionality of the piece come through really well. The cyclical nature of the write and the story in general is very good, and who knows how things work out, but they seem to on a regular basis.

All the best

You certainly had a tale to tell, and you told it so well. Those are remarkable coincidences, which makes you wonder if in fact they are coincidences. Like you, I think they are not. You are a great storyteller. Thank you for sharing this one.

thank you for sharing this beautiful story about a bear who came full circle. He was purchased for 'Anna,' and he ended up with another 'Anna' years later. The story was beautiful and moving. I think you were meant to be a part of this family's story. I also think we can all learn something from the random acts of kindness we may do. We don't always have the pleasure of seeing what they do, but your story reminds us that someone along the way will have them mean the world to them.

This was amazing. I am sorry for the loss of this child. Losing young ones is a great loss. I know. Teachers are amazing. Thanks for all you do. I read this, because I had a aunt we recently lost to Alzheimer's, named Anna. I miss her and wrote about her recently too. She was a wonderful person. Thanks, Theresa.

Oh my God, how can I not give a sixer for this story? This story brought me to tears. Not only is it well-written, but it is filled with so much emotions, sentiments, coincidences, and heart.

I am glad to know that the family found some solace in the gift although they did not noticed it until thirty years later.

Everyone grieving process is different, especially for a parent who lost a child. Maybe at the time when you gave the family the gift, it was too painful to acknowledge it, and the gift was put aside.

Thank you for this story. It made my day.

Thank you ever so much for your kind and exceptional review! I, too, believe it was just too painful for the mother to acknowledge it. But it is being loved and cherished now...
