The omniscient point of view opens up more freedom to give us information that the dogs don't know like what you're saying and what those treats contained. So I like it but there's definitely benefits to both. From the dog's point of view, you can wink at the reader as we smile about what they don't know. Their perspective still comes through about the luggage and the "black box" instead of saying alarm clock.

thank you so much for stopping by to read and review. I appreciate your comments about the POV. I find the omniscient POV gives me a chance to impart more information and introduce inner thoughts and dialogue from everyone in the scene. Thank you for your kind words,

This worked very well Patty. Your last story was not as clear as this.

I love the way the dogs stayed by your side and sensed your distress. My boys do the exact same thing, it is a feeling of love, but it makes you want to cry too.

hugs

Freda

Hi Freda; thank you so much for your thoughtful and honest review. I'm glad you liked this POV a bit better than the third person.

Yes, the boys are a great source of comfort to me,

Truly in my opinion, you did an marvelous time of representing both POV toward the Mistress and put feeling separage in action of both dogs. Very well done

It works very well, and it's a story I can relate. My cats have their routine, too, and are amazed when it's altered.

Animals are amazing. Mine know when I'm about to have a lupus flare-up before I do. They gather around like little old nannies to comfort me and give me some of their strength.

Love these stories. 8-)

Hi Yvonne; thank you so much for your thoughtful review. I'm glad your cats are a comfort to you with your lupus. Animals are certainly amazing and a huge comfort. Howie and Bernie are second only to my hubby when it comes to comfort.

I enjoyed your nice story of Bernie and Howie. To answer your question, I thought that writing in the third person voice was very good. Either way, your stories about the dogs works well. I like how they have their own voice/point of view and when you describe their movement/habits. (I hope you feel better.) Marilyn

It worked just fine. It is amazing how pets get used to a morning ritual and how badly a day will go if you start off bad. LOL The black Lab we have now is like a Sargent. He makes sure we all do our part to make his day shine. LOL Good job Patty. Nancy

Hi Nancy; I'm glad to know that my dogs aren't the only ones that rule the roost. Howie and Bernie have their routines, and poor Bernie really does get stressed about that first morning treat!

The third person is good. I understand. The boys or dogs knew the Mistress was having a bad day, but the boys needed their treat. Looking for ways to pressure the Mistress to get a move on it and serve the boy was the problem. "We will not desert you," said the boys. "Just give up our treat." The boys will not take their eyes off the Mistress until they are served. Now, that everything and everyone is back to normal the boys said, "We can relax with the Mistress and wait until it's time for more."

I like your creative approach; however, I was thrown off a bit because I was used to your essay style of writing.

A very well-written story. I had no problem following the story line in the way you wrote it. Tbe human was not feeling herself and the dogs both sense her mood and adapt to her actions.

Hello my friend

I agree with you. Animals do sense human's emotions and respond to them. It was lucky that they thought their medication was a treat, lol, they are like children. I heard that pets are good company for people with depression. My doctor wants me to get one.

Hey Gypsy; if you suffer from depression, and you have the room and inclination to care for a pet - you should do so. I love having real critters - other than the TV or you guys on FanStory - to listen to me and give me comfort. A hug from a dog is right up there with hugs from people!

I think the third person speak is working well. It is actually then written from an outsider's point of view - like a mouse in the corner but able to know their thoughts. I think it is perfect:)
