Wow. Thanks for the heads up on the awesome eclipse coming in August. I will be in Iowa -- wonder if there will be any celebrations or events here?
I didn't find anything to note or correct in your writing. Great article.

Thank you for this informative bit of information. I love the shout out to Dean Kuch. This is a unique format for a piece here on FanStory. I really don't know how to go about reviewing it. Is this book, of which this article is a chapter, something you are intending to publish at some point? Unfortunately, this piece will be dated (literally and figuratively) in its current form after August 2017.

No, you have not misled anyone, Matthew. You created an illusion. Your vocation is clearly a magician. I saw the world ending on that day, right before my eyes. Also, I can't leave out all the advertising. Those people owe you big time. Collect, Matthew.

That is an event, Matthew. Back in '79 a few of use held a party. While waiting I drank too much and never did see the eclipse. This time I'll abstain.

Speaking of the sky falling, here's a little story:
At the time, Farmer Brown was busily fixing a hen-house. It would take most of the day to nail new shingles onto the roof to keep rain from coming in. The farmer disliked heights but had to do something. Wet straw inside was causing his chickens to catch colds and lay square eggs. Square eggs were hard to sell. (You wouldn't want to eat a square egg, would you?)

Well, Chicken Little happened to be walking past the hen-house just as Farmer Brown dropped one of the new shingles. The errant tile almost hit that unlucky little chick on the head.

Chicken Little looked up and saw the blue sky. He then looked down and saw pieces of blue tile, lying shattered at his feet. Now, Chicken Little was not very bright but he could add two and two and, sometimes, get four. (Can you do that, too?)

He pecked at the shingle. No, it was not good to eat. The young chick decided that the blue sky was falling down. Chicken Little ran and ran. He ran three times around the barnyard to escape the falling heavens.

Elmer, the rooster, saw him and, putting out a leg, stopped the chick.

"What are you running from little chicken?"

"The sky in falling. The sky is falling. Run. Run. Run. The sky is falling," screamed Chicken Little, asking, "Where can I hide?"

Elmer the rooster looked up and saw nothing but blue sky and white clouds. (Just what you would see it you looked up at the sky on a sunny day.)

"What makes you think that, Chicken Little?" he asked.

"I saw it. I saw it. A piece almost hit me on the head."

"I don't think so. Have you been smoking that funny stuff?" Elmer asked, not believing the youngster. (Does your Mama smoke that funny stuff? If so, tell a policeman and he'll give you a piece of candy.)

"No, really. I saw it."

"Then show me what you saw."

Chicken Little led Elmer to the pieces of broken tile. Elmer walked around them a few times. He scratched with a toe and pecked at it with his beak. He looked up and saw the blue sky.

About that time, farmer Brown dropped another shingle. It hit a rock and splattered the ground with blue pieces.

"See? See? See?" cried Chicken Little. "The sky is falling, the sky is falling."

Normally placid Elmer, being hit on his tail feathers by a splinter or three, started running around the barnyard, himself.

"The sky is falling. The sky is falling," screamed Elmer, as he ran.

Chicken little looked up again and saw Farmer Brown standing straight up and looking at that crazy rooster, running around the barnyard and cackling in panic. The farmer shrugged and returned to his work.

But seeing the farmer standing with blue shingles in his hand, even the stupidest chicken could figure out what had happened.

A couple of hens, astonished by the rooster's antics, came up to Chicken Little.

"What happened to Elmer? Did he lose his mind?" they asked.

"That is one stupid rooster," Chicken little replied, shaking his little head.

Mr. West, I must admit I was surprised my Art was selected to accompany a writing on FanStory side of the house; however, after reading your "REALLY NOT SO BORING" story of a day in history that is yet to come (and is actually only 3 months away), I am truly honored you selected my artwork. They do go quite well together. I also enjoyed your informative writing. I placed the event on my calendar. The way you write has a certain flair that would make anything pleasurable even if it was not.....NOOOO, I am NOT saying this piece of writing is not pleasurable....it is actually quite a relevant event. I am merely stating the facts of how I see (or should I say, read) your writing. Thanks so much for sharing and again thanks for choosing my art.

Another phase for the sun/moon/earth/mankind. Your record of it will be useful, I'm sure. Don't know if I go along with your illustration though, friend. I hate horrible looking things like that, but best of luck with it, Brett.

Good to know and thanks for this.
But now, could you kindly write another article
- quite related to this, as a matter of fact - to
urge people to donate for my flight over there,
including an overnight at the Hotel Jackson?

I'd really appreciate that. Oh, all donations over and
above the flight and overnight costs go to FanStory, of course.

I have no idea what that picture has to do with the eclipse, but it grabbed my attention.

Of course Florida is not mentioned at all. So once again I will miss some wonderful phenomenon.

Thanks for sharing your boring life.

I have no idea what Minnesota will be like when August 21 comes along. Today the sky is very blue and the sun is shining brightly. I enjoyed reading what you wrote in your extremely boring life. Kat
