HI Dennis, it's one thing not to want to serve God at all...it's another to serve Him only half way...and another to truly serve Him...God knows the true believers...the devoted believers...how are you doing my sweet friend...I hope you are well...I love the chapter...very well written...love Linda xxoo

Thank you for sharing this inspired piece about serving God. Indeed, we need to open our heart to the Spirit to fulfill God's purpose for our life. Your quoting of scripture added to the story,

Thank you Dennis for sharing the story of Peter. He is a wonderful example for us who fail sometimes but the love of Jesus picks us up and continues to love us.

We are studying Abram/Abraham in our Sunday School class and we always think that he was such a great man and he was but not without flaws and yet, God chose him to be an ancestor of our Lord. He does work in mysterious ways and always for our good.
Have a great day Dennis.
Blessings
Janet

Hi Janet, Yes, we are all in the process of being taught how to act as God's dear children now that we are born again of His Spirit. He is the best of a loving father and a nurturing mother...love and training patiently to bring us to maturity. God bless you, that's a great study. YBIC, Dennis

This being a Sunday over here in Germany as I review, I'd say I prefer your version and can easily relate with that and pick out parts of it for my prayer:

Here's my paraphrased version: "Peter, when you were young, both in age and spiritually, you made up your own mind what you were going to do about serving Me. But the Holy Spirit is going to come on you as you continually pray. He is going to empower you and impel you to go places for Me you won't want to go, including your death on a cross."

Your time spent learning about the Lord show. So, striking up a conversation can turn into a ministry. Nevertheless, you love the Lord and you give examples how to serve him. I wish you all the success championing the word of God. God bless you.

Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level

I always remember Jesus struggling with His immediate, imminent very cruel future of dying on the cross, not to mention the prior beating and the carrying of the cross, some reports suggest Jesus should have been dead before being nailed to it, and "sweating droplets of blood" (extreme anxiety, a medical explanation) so well done, I hope God prepares us al, if the ultimate sacrifice is what He wills, for His glory, well done, bro Dennis, great write, blessings, Roy.

Thanks Roy. I believe His anticipation of being separated from the Father for our sin was the truer pain of the cross. We can claim the help of the Spirit as you know for whatever lies ahead. God bless you, brother!

An excellent explanation of a difficult passage to interpret. Perhaps this will give many others the inspiration to try and understand other biblical passages as well.

"Most assuredly, I say to you, when you were younger, you girded yourself and walked where you wished; but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will gird you and carry you where you do not wish." John 21:18 (NKJV)

Dennis, I was doing a study in the book of John, when this scripture just seemed it jumped off the page at me. This was about 10 days before I was to experience a manic depressive break. I had to be hospitalized in the mental health hospital to see what was wrong with me. I had worked in a mental health hospital right out of high school and to have to be a patient was never a place I would want to go. God I am sure showed this scripture to give me a sense of what I would be going through in just days. I did not understand it at the time, but when I was hospitalized, I could see God working in my life.
