Indeed we are at the mercy of our dreams, and yet, sometimes, those dreams can speak to us, help us to understand something that's been troubling us.
Your poem speaks to so many levels, though - sometimes those same dreams are simply a way of releasing demons that prey on good, kind minds and hearts I think, that pry and fight to gain control.
I loved it, Vance! Very deep.

Dear Vance, your dream prayer has such vivid imagery of night and all it brings. I found myself wandering within it, as if walking the path at night hearing the sighs that float from night itself. I thought this a wonderful expressive piece. Though I would have like a line space or two just to ease the read, it was still a work that enthralled with the power of night.

A very well-written prayer/poem. When we are alone in a dark night we can always talk to God in prayer and know He will listen to our every word and will provide in our needs.

There's so much deep thought in this, but you squish it together in an unfriendly format. I would suggest a rewrite with spacing between the questions and reflections. As for content, I agree about the power of dreams. We must try to figure out what our subconscious is trying to tell us.

I never remember my dreams, but on the old occasion I do, I never understand them as they are just nonsense. Not having control within a dream is the frightening part! Just about to go to sleep, so wish me luck! Great write, love Dolly x

In reading this prayer poem, it seems like a prayer of protection from bad dreams. I am happy to say, for my own sake, that my dreams are very creative and I write a lot of my poems in them. It does seem that some people fear going to sleep, but I'm grateful not to be one of them and I hope that you are not one of them either. Marilyn

I joined you on your journey when reading this brilliant piece of writing, your words are very emotive and I could resonate with your experience. It also took me back in thought to how powerless and fearful I first felt at the mercy of my dreams but once the flow began I was able to face the fear whatever it happened to be to gain the insight and knowledge that was on offer with the belief that it was what was needed at the time. I have never felt abandoned in my dreams but held in the arms of pure love. Thank you for this poem and thank you for sharing it.

Indeed, dreams are a wonderland we must deal with as they come, whether sad, glad, dark, or light, it is our challenge to decide how we will deal with them. I am in a clinical trial program for a new drug which I cannot discuss (even if I knew anything about it) The trial is over in four more months and I will then know the whole story. If you get back and remind me then, I will be glad to share all with you. Kind regards, Vance

Sure, like I haven't tried those things in the past.
Look, I could watch Sesame Street before bedtime and still have an attack of night terrors. It doesn't matter in the slightest "what" movies we watch, or what we read, or even what we write.
What matters is that our psyche is irreparably damaged, for whatever reasons.

There have been times when I wish I had!

Thanks Dean, for this great review and message and I agree, that dream-world is a very special and somewhat unpredictable place to be and with my current battle with ALZ and the associated medications that also bring their unique persuasions, I never know what's next when the sun goes down and the lights go out! But then, we do have the choice to either embrace the happenstances and make the best of them, or suck our thumb, or maybe write something! You certainly do KNOW HOW to WRITE SOMETHING MY FRIEND!!! I'm VERY PROUD OF YOU AND YOUR WORKS AND GLAD TO HAVE YOUR FRIENDSHIP! BLESSINGS DAY OR NIGHT! VANCE
