Thank you Annie:)

I imagined this evocative, free verse was written in a hospital, waiting room. I admired your "anchors" simile and "gallows" metaphor. Again, I am relieved that the prognosis was good and your tears can be wiped away. Hugs- Joan

In my opinion, a remarkably accurate view of a doctor's waiting room, delivered in unmasked perfection. The random rhyme is well constructed and the movement, fluid and explicit...

'The Waiting Room'- Very interesting title.
It reminds me of the hospital and doctor's office.
This is a good read.
--A waiting room can bring on fear of the worst. I'm glad everything turned out okay.
Thanks for sharing.
Good luck with your future writing!

This I think, is a very touching poem. I don't know anyone that can't relate to waiting for news about the outcome of some life changing moment. Thanks for sharing and describing this so eloquently. All the best to both of you.

Hi
this made me cry and think of allthe pain I have seen while waiting for tests and results. It is the most scarey place in the world, these rooms. You caught it well.
I am so happy it all went well for you...but I will still be lighting that candle!

You have described the atmosphere in the waiting room perfectly. I felt as if I was there myself.
I'm glad to hear everything is okay with your wife.
Thanks for sharing.

This reminds me of what it's like to sit in the waiting room of ICU, same scenario, we are all hoping it's not bad news for our loved one. I'm glad your news was good, thank for sharing.
cheers.
