A lovely romance poem. A beautiful painting, too, that inspired it. I especially like the line 'Nadine, la femme, does love to flirt.' A bit of lightness there, blessings...

Hi Irish. Anything Renoir painted inspires a poem, and "Dance" was fun to write. Thanks so much for sharing and your kind praise. Rod

We shall dance! Your romantic poem is so refreshing after reading more somber poems. The whole aura of your poem has the cadence of a dance. I am delighted with your poem!

Thank you so much for your kind praise. I deliberately chose to write "Dance" in iambic tetrameter, hoping the cadence would be waltz tempo. I'm delighted that the result works for you. Rod

hello
a good poem for this prompt and one for this picture. both are evocative of the softness of love and the dance that two can have
your words and the cadence works well with this older picture

Thank you so much, Mitchell, for your marvelous praise of "Dance" and the six star rating. Renoir himself made writing this poem a pleasure because every painting of his tells a story. Rod

A very well-written Ekphrasis poem, and a detailed description of the artwork and your thoughts on what the dancing pair may talk about and what secrets they share.
An enjoyable read.

Sorry, I meant a perfect description of the picture, not poem.

You cannot be more romantic than when you take your lover by the hand lead her onto the dance floor, wrap your arms around her gently , gaze momentarily into her eyes... then dance, dance dance : ) I love to dance with my wife. Excellent poem friend, great rhyme and strong visuals, good luck!

-Very nice artwork.
-Effective rhyme and imagery
that create flowing movement
as in a dance:
"Demure in gown with flaring skirt"
-The poem is also very romantic.
-Good luck in the contest.

Thank you, Pam, for your very kind praise. I used iambic tetrameter deliberately to suggest the rhythm of their waltzing. I am very pleased you think it works.

You are very welcome. You did a very good job with the meter, and it does work very well.🙂

and wrote an excellent poem to accompany it
Nicely rhymed with very fine imagery and
excellent descriptive words
I think many would be captivated by Nadine
