God's Word is poetry to me, He teaches through it, giving us beautiful stories and lessons to be learned. I like your example from Second Kings, faith is seen in action and the reader is moved.

Amen, thank you.
Comment from Meia (MESAYERS)
he marked contrasts draw us in; a mighty commander of a victorious army...famous...yet a leper.
A brave man of war...yet helpless against his fatal disease. A young girl, torn from her people to be a slave...yet full of faith. A loving wife of the great man...but willing to listen to the spiritual advice of a young slave from Israel.
Thus the dynamic story takes off, full of drama, as two Kings are added to the mix along with a mighty Prophet of the Living God.
And it keeps moving as it unfolds, showing the conversion experience of a hard-headed leader, the power of God miraculously displayed, and the gratitude of the Commander who learned to be obedient to the Supreme Commander of the universe!' I agree with all you have said here, it truly is the greatest sotry ever told and this is but one tiny part of it. I think more people should take time and actually read the bible I am very impressed with what you have written here. Kindest regards and god bless, Meia x

The above is why I do have my problems with the bible. There is never any loving blessing - unless you've suffered practicall all sorts of asbominations!

I must say I am surprised at your comment "there is never any loving blessing" . The bible contains what even secular literary experts consider the most profound description of love ever written in the 13th chapter of First Corinthians, And then His love is all through the book, very notable in the Psalms. It helps to remember God in love is also seeking to steer us in the right path and frankly, we are not always interested in the right path. So as any good parent would, the proper use of corrective discipline is used. May I suggest you read the story in 2Kings 5 in its entirety? I think you will see all aspects of God's love displayed therin. God bless you, Dennis

"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness," 2 Timothy 3:16
So glad your family was changed by reading it too.

Excellent examples of openings that hook the reader. God is the divine consciousness that entered the souls of his disciples who wrote about the events.
The movies had done wonderful scripts fleshing out the characters and plots.

Nope, no response except for the above. I was waiting for a lecture, too. LOL.
Yes, we're getting settled. The biggest headache is setting up with a new doctor and dentist. Unfortunately, I still have some of my teeth.
Hugs,
Mama

The word of God gives us comfort, peace guidance hope and truth. There indeed is no other writing in the world that compares. His word does no use unnecessary words to make a point. I find many writers today who use 3 times as many words needed to make a point. Patricia

I am the first in my family, (that I'm aware of) to pick up the bible, and from me are two more generations! I've told secular writers that if they want marvellous original writing, and if they truly appreciate amazing metaphors, hope filled dialogue, magnificent poetry, pick it up, it will change your life forever! But they fear it I suspect, some of their doggerel may be challenged. Well done, Naanam was a man in authority, but like the Roman centurion, recognised being under authority. Well done brother Dennis, blessings to you and yours..

This is a wonderful story Dennis. You draw so much from the text and make it come alive. You read between the lines and glean the often ignored parts of the story. We often just take things on face value, but with a little diligence, we can be like your mother and add to the lives of our children and others around us.
Thanks for sharing this story from 2nd Kings.
Blessings
Janet

I have to say this is a unique approach. It's a very good way to teach writing, a bible verse and a great way to get people interested in the bible. Wonderful idea.
