I like the thoughts. The poem is strong and the finish is even stronger.

"The places that I left behind
On my journeys to the places
I am now,

The last place that I would look for you,
The first thing that comes to mind
When you say this
Could be anyplace.

This give me a deep feeling of leaving the past behind but that person is someone who could not be -- just left there in those yesterdays, maybe even too special to forget and there is that wish to see them again -- anywhere.

Sometimes I say to my fellow Poets, I might not get exactly what you may want me to get because sometimes I let my mind take me to what I want your piece to mean to me. Either way it is a beautiful piece, beautiful poem.

You usually get me. You get my poetry and I love the way you describe my poems in your reviews. I don't want to let you down in my description of yours but I will always be honest and I will always be a loyal fan...

Thanks for the great review and for your support of the poem. Place is another big part of life, and I tried to build this poem around the word 'place' and let it take you to all kinds of places and emotions while in those places, and finding people there too. Glad you enjoyed it so much estory

'Anyplace' is a good poem.
My favorite line: 'The many places in the corners of my mind'

Thank you for the great review and for enjoying the poem. This poem can take you anyplace. and noplace. it's all in your mind. the construction is kind of open ended, and the style very obtuse, so that the reader can be anywhere they want. estory

You know estoty
I like the way you used the word 'place':of

HOW one can design and create, and build the most wonderful place in the world. And how it takes people to make the dream or reality.

So many philosophical poems concentrate on time, and it is interesting to read one that explores the concept of place. We do, after all, move through our lives one place at a time, whether that be in our head or in terms of physical position. Many are the times when the place we hold in our heads is not the same pace as the one we actually find ourselves in - the difference between dreams and reality! This is, I think, one of the defining aspects of humanity - that we are able to transport ourselves elsewhere by the use of imagination. A most interesting poem and one that I much enjoyed!

Thank you for the excellent review and for your interesting comments. I am glad that this open ended minimalist piece was able to take you to so many places, to get you to think about the many kinds of places that exist in our souls and minds, and the differences between the two. estory

'The repetitions of the word 'place' create a sense of music in the language. It is also quite surreal, dream-like, creating a place in between places, a hope, a memory, an ambition of place...' This poem...musical, estory?
It didn't read very lyrically or musically to me.
Mater-of-fact, perhaps, but definitely not musical.

Of course, that's merely my opinion, and we ALL know what they say about opinions, do we not?

One thing this poem is.
It's intriguing, thought provoking, and interesting, and that's more than I can say for some.
Thanks for sharing, enjoy your weekend.

Thank you for your excellent review and for your interesting comments. Music I guess is a matter of opinion. Repetitions of sound, repetitions of patterns, these are the building blocks of minimalism, in the art of Orozco, Frank Stella, Piet Mondrien, and the music of Steve Reich and Phil Glass, Brian Eno and Robert Fripp. These have been some of my most important influences. This is not lyrical poetry, but a music, sometimes a mechanical music, That comes from repititions of patterns. But I am glad the poem got you thinking of places, what they mean, what they meant, where they are and where they are not. estory

thank you for sharing this lovely free verse that speaks to the places we've been, the places we will go, and the place we stand in now. Your words move with a nice rhythm and rhyme and do indeed create a place between places,

a well written piece of free verse which you have explained in a very long description. I like free verse best of any genre of poetry and though your poem
could not be faulted for technique I did not find it very interesting

Thank you for your excellent review and for your support of this minimalist free verse piece. It is a very different concept of making music in language, and in subject. it is meant to be obtuse enough to be anyplace, and noplace, in between places, on the way, and passed them. It is about memory and hope story it is

I love the repetition. Though it works best in poetry, I often use it in prose with surprisingly good effect. Your repetition is well-placed, well-spaced, and makes its point.

I wish I could learn to do that.

Thank you for the excellent review and for your support of this piece. I have read some very interesting minimalist prose pieces, built around repetitions. I think its easy enough to do in poetry, just start with a word or a phrase and repeat the patterns, vary the patterns, up the tempo, and slow it down. There are some other examples in my portfolio, if you want to check them out: Stars, Garble, Waiting, R Train, and then there are other poets, like Jack Anderson, who wrote some amazing minimalist prose poetry, Magnets, The Mysterious Sound, Scenario For a Long Movie, and The Peace of the Evening, come to mind. estory

Haha, I'll look at more, but you haven't seen my "poetry." I'm much better with prose. Re: the review, you are very welcome. Feel free to nominate me for reviewer of the month!
