Your poem is an interesting mother's day tribute. It made me stop and think.
All of us wish we'd had perfect childhoods, with a mother who modeled ideal parental attitudes and taught us to internalize the tenets of self-love. Of course, I didn't and I think that's why I turned to writing poetry.
Thanks for sharing...

Hi Bill; I think that all the best artists had some sort of heartache in their past. It takes a sensitivity to delve into the human condition, and those less than perfect childhoods are fodder for building a sensitive side,

Thanks for sharing this poem about Mother's Day. Unfortunately, it is a holiday I no longer celebrate since mine left this earth several years ago.
However, despite her being gone, I am still thankful for all the wonderful things she did throughout her life. JW

There are mothers who are worthy of honor. As you write, we wonder if they are from above. You also indicate ambivalence. It is true that some mothers don't measure up. I've been reading Mastery's story about the boy who was sent to live in foster homes. He had a mother who just pretended to care, but she spoiled her daughter's future by making her the unpaid babysitter and house maid. Sure, mothers can have faults, but there's nothing worse than not doing what's in the child's best interests. Great handling of the memento poem. judi

Hi judi; thank you so much for your review of this poem. I appreciate your comments, and I've been following Bob's story. I feel for the little boy that bounced around so many foster homes. Mother's aren't perfect, but one would hope they did their best,

You're quite welcome. Some mothers get a bad deal, too, with father who deserts her and the children. judi

It's kind of a poignant piece the way you wrote it, with some of those harder edged images, perhaps a more realistic portrait of mothers than we usually come up with. They are human after all. Nobody's perfect. My mother passed a year and a half ago, so I am still working through getting used to her not being around. It's hard, especially around the holidays estory

Hi estory; I know how you feel. In spite of everything that happened, my mother and I had a relationship when I became an adult. She passed almost twenty years ago, and there are still days I look at the phone and think of calling her,

Good morning, Patty...
Re your Memento Poem about
Mother's Day, I so enjoyed reading it and reminding me of the wonderful tines my M other and I had...She was also my best friend until she aassed in 1981 to be with Our Heavenly Father....
It is written in the Bible to Honor our Mothers... and if they were abusive or detrimental in our lives in any way, to still honor them.... if for no other reason that they were the means by which we came to be here..

Hi Nan; thank you so much for stopping by to read and review. My mother passed away almost twenty years ago. We never spoke of the things that happened to me while I was young. We forged a new relationship and since I lived across the country, we talked on the phone a great deal right up until the end. I appreciate your sentiments,

thank you so much for your review. My mother passed away almost twenty years ago, and we managed a different kind of relationship when I was an adult. I may have forgiven her, but I'll never forget the pain of growing up,

Good afternoon, Patty
A fitting tribute to one's mother whose love is unconditional, whose love never falters. I'm near seventy and my mother still worries about me.
Enjoyed.
Take care and stay safe,

Hi Ray; it is so nice that your mother worries about you. I lost my mom almost twenty years ago to lung cancer. There are still days when I pick up the phone to call her,

We had our Mother's Day a while ago. A charming tribute to honour our Mother's and the efforts they made for us, even if they are now living with the angels, a joy to read, love Dolly x

Mother's, got to love them lol. I lucked out with mine, she is one of the most caring, loving souls alive. I have not seen this style before but enjoyed it and you hit the criteria perfectly.
God bless!

It's true some mother's know how to mother and some don't. They don't want to or maybe they had no one to show them the way. I was lucky, my Mum was a mother, a nurturer. Well done with this momento form Patty,
cheers,

Hi valda; thank you so much for your warm review of this poem. It was challenging to write about mothers and still show the ambiguity.
