This is interesting and, once one is aware of your pups' involvement, the whole thing becomes clear. It begs the question of whether it should be clear without reference to the note. I have to admit I couldn't quite guess to whom or what those four little black eyes were attached until I read the note.

Okay, so you had me at puppies.

However, this well written poem clearly depicts the enjoyment of watching puppies play.

I have always said that four-legged critters that bark make much better people than most of the two-legged species of animals ever will.

Patty, I enjoyed this haiku very much because I could see the two pups jumping and playing, their eyes sparkling. I think the author notes are especially helpful and are certainly appreciated by me.
