This is a memento poem right to the spirit of the prompt. Easter memories, a salute to an author, the whole works, and maintaining the form. Cheerful, Excellent, and with good and informative notes.

    Hi LiJ:

I just bought a Peter Rabbit stuffie and book set for our littlest addition for his Easter basket. He's only eight months old now, but I'll enjoy reading him the story tomorrow. Thank you for the fantastic comments and review.

Really loved the art
work very much
for these words written
A lot of fun occurred
around Easter time
I think more so back then
The world is changing
I feel in many ways.

I have no six stars left.

A lovely Easter Momento Poem Kim with memories of coloured eggs and Easter egg hunts. This was an easier form than some we've practiced with Potlatch. Nicely done,
cheers,
valda

    Hi Valda,

It was an easier form than some we've had recently. I was happy for that the day I wrote it, something easy for my brain to wrap around lol I'm glad you enjoyed the memories of Beatrix Potter and coloring eggs. Thank you for the lovely comments.

    Hi Kerry,

Beatrix Potter was so prolific as a storyteller, poet, and illustrator. She is one author whom I believe has universal appeal. Thank you for the lovely comments.

Great Momento for the challenge. I love Peter Rabbit, even at my age.

In fact, I like all the characters of Beatrix Potter's creation. Have you seen her drawings of insects and flowers? They look like photographs, they're so good.

I wish I had seen her home when I was in the UK, but I was outvoted.

    Hi Yvonne,

I read that she donated most of her lands to preserve the Lake District. She truly was a gifted storyteller, illustrator, and poet. Thank you for finding me the perfect venue to showcase her in my NaPoWriMo book.

Dear Kim, I thought this was a nice poem, and it mentions Easter which is coming up soon. The title of your book, "Echoes of Artistry," is beautiful. And I liked the poem written by Beatrix Potter. I think I'll try a Memento poem myself. Donna

    Hi Donna,

It is a lovely style. We're learning it in Poetry Potlatch this week, so this is my practice piece. In the Challenges forum we'll be given a topic on Saturday. I may end up with a second one in my book. Thank you for taking the time to read and review. I hope you'll try one, too.

Beatrix Potter was great fun and generations of kids have been fascinated by her books. If one accepts that the Edwardian middle class world is dead and gone and should perhaps have taken the anthropomorphism of B. Potter and P. Rabbit with it is to make one a modernist by I can't help but have a soft spot for her and her creatures. Why did none of the boy bunnies ever wear trousers? Her lady bunnies always kept their full length dresses on.

How many beats in hours?

    Hi Pantygynt:

Did I find the soft spot for furry creatures in your demeanor? What a fun question about the boy bunnies. They were always into such mischief, perhaps she thought to spare their mothers the chore of mending and washing the trousers? lol That wasn't a worry for the lady bunnies. Hours is a word like fire. One syllable, although some will contend it is two.

Thank you for reading and offering a most delightful review.

Fond memories invoked in the little memento (love that it demands rhyme, hate the required rhythm as I feel it disrupts the flow of the piece) You followed the form perfectly and produced a piece that would make Beatrix smile - except for that rhythm thing. - Wendy

    Hi Wendy,

The two syllable lines do throw the rhythm off, I would have to agree with that. I'm happy that you enjoyed this Beatrix Potter poem. She evokes such fond memories for so many generations. I'm happy to have her included in my book.

Peter Rabbit is a wonderful classic. I wasn't raised with it. However, when I worked in Giftware, I instantly fell in love with all the franchise merchandise. I like your commentary. Well thought out and nicely written. Goodnight :)
