A very good poem, but a word of advice. You should choose your own picture to accompany your post. The picture that is chosen for you has nothing to do with your poem.

estory,

Hi ek! It's me, Oatmeal. I am STILL here after all of these years. lol My best friend here, years ago, died fairly recently. It was hard for me to say good-bye but that is how it works sometimes.

The words you chose worked very well. The descriptive words created wonderful impressions. I liked this piece very much. It made for an enjoyable read.

There was no SPAG. No typos. No homophones. No problems at all.

I look forward to seeing you again.

Love you,

Oatmeal

A great tribute to the artist who brings great joy to many. He is not one of my favourites, although my father loved his work. Your poem is well researched with great feeling, also sentimental, a joy to read, love Dolly x

Yes. I can so identify with this. Were it my work, I would not be mingling with the crowds, but watching them, looking for my next painting. This is just beautiful. Blessings....

Thanks for the great review and the encouraging remarks. I think what really seemed so riveting about Rembrandt was his ability to size people and personalities up, and in his self portrait, he did it to himself with those riveting, almost laser like eyes. You have to see the picture estory

What an amazing way estory
You brought out the beauty of Rembrandt,
is it five of his famous work of art so detailed, especially of so vivid tht elements of a person's character and personality.

What a great collection of poems describing these various Rembrandt portraits. I sort of wish to know which ones they are but I can imagine them in his style of painting. Very nice. I especially liked the last line as I guess every artist must observe that intently. I think you meant "canvas" the noun, not "canvass" the verb.

Thanks for the great review and your encouraging comments and enjoyment of the poem. The portraits are of a seated woman, a housewife; a merchant; a ship owner/trader; and Rembrandt himself. I think that last line captures the way Rembrandt looked at people around him, he was always composing a portrait of them, arranging them on canvas. estory

very clever,I am not a big art person but I knew which paintings you where talking about.I am not a good judge of poetry either but I understood the verses really well.Enjoyed the poem it made a real change from a lot of the poetry I have been reading on this site.I don't do poetry but am trying to learn. To read something really different was very good.

Thanks for your great review and your interesting comments. I am glad you enjoyed the poem and found the construction different; I like to push into new types of composing. This style is actually greatly influenced by Seamus Heaney, the Irish poet of the late 20th century. Read his collection, Poems 1965-1975 and you will gain incite into contemporary compsosition styles estory

A very well-written free verse poem describing the essence of Rembrandt's paintings and how precise his artwork sets the scene with eyes of the characters follow you wherever you go.

What you've written here is true, Rembrandt's work is truly amazing, as was/is his attention to detail, estory.
However, I prefer the work of Salvador Dali, Jackson Pollack, Norman Rockwell, and Andy Warhol myself.
Being an avid art enthusiast, do you also paint yourself?
You don't have to answer, I was just curious is all.

Thanks for the great review and your interesting comments. I have a great interest in visual art, coming from New York, I was exposed to all kinds of art, from the Dutch masters to Pollock, Nam Jun Pak, Orozco, De Koonig, Klee, Mondrien, etc. Actually I like all kinds of art, I am a big proponent of minimalism, and I believe it is the art form of our time. I don't paint myself but I am into photography and have done many collages. I have one print of a sketch by Vernon Howe Bailley, my prized possession, as well lots of Monet prints and a piece by my cousin, who is a railroad artist in New York. estory
