Barbara, I know what FanStory's intent is in the "revived post" category. It is to keep the rankings unpolluted. Where I don't agree with you is your feeling that a highly edited post can't be considered as new. Sometimes entirely new characters can be added to a story that tilts its storyline, and often theme, in an entirely new direction. That was what happened with my three act play. It started out as a one-acter, but when I added the second and third act, it became a different animal completely. I think it has to be left up to the conscience of the author, based on his motives.

Thank you, I am just really confused with this. I have friends who have added new chapters to an old story and had to do it as revived, but I noticed others do not. That's my problem. I don't get it.

Thanks for asking a question that I've often wondered about. I have spent the last few weeks reading someone's posts that all are stories I read a few years ago, although more polished. I'm not much help on the answer, but I sure would like to know what you find out. :-)

I think re edited or otherwise and old post is a revived post, I don't know how to repost an old post, so, for me, it would always appear as a new post anyway, but well done, Barbara, blessings, Roy

A very well stated, and fair question to ask. Often times, an opportunity, such as a contest arises where the writer realizes something he/she posted in one form, say, a short story, might be easily transformed into a brief poem like an Etheree. Naturally, FanStory doesn't want people constantly rehashing old material by dressing it up as something else. But, on the other hand, a writer may "adapt" general thoughts, words, or expressions from one of their original works into another. It is their material - they are free to manipulate it as they see. But I have not yet heard of anyone pulling off so obvious a hoax by resubmitting something that too closely matches a previous post.
