I couldn't agree with you more. I have said for years that the electoral college was a pile of...junk. I voted for Trump, but it was like winning a board game because I cheated...not as satisfying.

Hi Harry,
Thank you for keeping your entry below 500 words as prescribed in the rules.
As I am not here to subjectively evaluate what you've written, I'll state that I gave you the five stars because I suppose you think it is possible that if one third of the geographical United States (roughly, because only the populated centers would matter as far as voting goes, and that would be the only area the politicians would concern themselves with because the rest of the country wouldn't matter to them.) By not being concerned with rural areas, even though that is where the food for the nation is grown and the natural resources are harvested I have a feeling the nation would become more disenfranchised they already are, and right now at least they have an opportunity to be heard.
I think you've missed the true nature of the contest, which was to offer positive alternatives to make this a better nation and give us all (collectively) the opportunity to create a better world. I don't think criticizing the current system would be productive to changing what already exists, so I would consider revisions.
Good luck in the contest.

Thank you for the read and your careful review. That's thus far what makes this a great country, we can develop and expound our own thoughts. There is no greater change that is taking place then what is happening now. The government swamp is now filled with the rich and the connected and they are making decisions that benefit the rich and connected to the detriment of the little guys.

ahhh, and it goes on. As you say, it's happened the last 4 elections. Probably a lot more often over the years. It's nothing new. As I see it , neither side is better than the other; each side just uses the same old argument when they are to loser.
So what can be done?
I studied the govt and constitution way back in high school, but can't remember the reasoning for electoral colleges.
You put out some good arguments and saw 'em through.

Thanks for the read and the comments. I believe there are two reasons for the E.C. 1) The framers of the Constitution didn?t trust direct democracy. They feared a tyrant could manipulate public opinion and come to power. (Well guess what happened). 2) Gave extra power to the smaller states. (see http://www.historycentral.com/elections/Electoralcollgewhy.html)

Good story and contemporary, I quite agree with what you have said, even though I'm not American, I think most of world would agree with this. I detect some anger and strong feelings in the story, it is well written however. Good luck with your writing.

You have done a wonderful job of expressing your ideas about the Electoral College. This is not the first time this has happened. It has happened at least 2 times before that I know of.
Your ideas are well organized and represented.
Great job,
Rhonda
