A very well-written epigrams even the one you mean is not. It is a fun way to critique politicians and other news makers and help to bloe off steam about the wrongs in this world.

Yes it is. I actually hadn't written one before. I'm considering using it as a style for Potlatch in May. I didn't see it on the list, so I'm thinking we haven't done it yet. I was really surprised to find so many of the famous poets had written them. Thanks for the great review.

This terrific satirical poem is a great addition to your book, Kim. I wish I had a six for you. Virtual six is all I can give. It hardly seems sufficient for the likes of such a well written piece.
You did a truly exceptional job on this poem. I laughed at quite a few of your lines in the 'Almost an Epigram, But Not' portion of your poem. I especially loved "beneath one flag - their mascot is an ass" ... too funny!

This terrific satirical poem is a great addition to your book, Kim. I wish I had a six for you. Virtual six is all I can give. It hardly seems sufficient for the likes of such a well written piece.

I had a good time reading and getting an understanding of epigrams today. I hadn't realized that they were a really big thing and that so many of the famous poets wrote them. I think we may try them in Potlatch in May, it is a style we haven't done yet. I'm glad you found the poems entertaining. I will take a virtual six from you any day of the week. I really appreciate the grand review. :)

I really like the style of the Epigram. It comes across as a bit cheeky with having a stinging end line. :) Probably a fun one to write and a good one for Potlatch.

This is excellent, Kim. Thank you for explaining the epigram. Absolutely. For too long now Congress has tried to make themselves exempt from the laws they want to pass for the people. I think we'd get better work out of them if we demand that they only pass things that they will live by, too. Because, in the end, they are playing with people's lives, and they just aren't that special. (Did I start to rant again? lol) Thanks for the great review.

We desperately need term limits for Congress. Get the lifetime bastards (oops! did I say that?) out of there. New blood in to refresh the gov and move on. More would be accomplished if they served their allotted terms and HAD to get off the public trough and go back to private life.

I think I just like commas lol epitaphs and epigrams are two different things, by the way :) I liked the Poe one so much that I put it on my Profile Thoughts today. Thanks for the great review, I'll go get rid of that comma now.

It is just me. I'd feel like I cheated if I just posted one epigram. Though, we do that all the time with 5-7-5's and haiku and such. That, and that second one is just what you said, a rant lol but it fit the form, so I went with it. Politically, we are absolutely on the same page. Kick 'em all out and start anew. That is the perfect idea. I wish we could. I'm glad you enjoyed them.

Thanks for taking the time to read and review. I'm thinking we haven't done this form in Potlatch before, so I may have us do a suite of the short epigrams for one of the weeks in May. What do you think? Thanks for the great comments.

I think whatever you choose will be fine. I'm having trouble lately coming up with any ideas to write, and I'm doing a poor job of it. Hopefully, my "muse" will return soon. 8-)

Love the cheeky ending on your seasons epigram, and I can understand where you're coming from with you political one. I think pollies think they are a bit more special than the rest of us, but I do hope that -poetic justice is a bitter pill - for them.

I wanted one that was proper, and my Almost one got too long for me to want to pass it off as a true epigram lol So I came up with the Seasons one, too. Thanks for the fun review. Since I'm facilitating Potlatch in May, I was thinking we might try a suite of the short ones, what do you think? I thought it might be fun. :)

I did enjoy it though, I've been following the US political issues for some time now and it gives me an additional perspective on them.

Epitaphs are burial poems. I'm for healthcare that makes sense for everyone. What I vehemently don't agree with is the politicians crafting a bill that will apply to virtually everyone in the country except for them. I feel like they will do a better job representing our interests if they have to live under the same yoke. I don't feel like they should get to live by another standard.
I'm glad you enjoyed my selections. I chose the epigram today because so many of the master poets employed this style that I feel it is something that represents the roots of our poetry today. Thanks for all of your great comments.

Since I volunteered for Potlatch lead in May, I'm thinking of us trying this style. What do you think? We could all have some fun and write a suite of 3 epigrams (the short version). What do you think? I enjoy your poetry, you shouldn't knock it. I just love to read and doing this research makes me happy. I loved the Wall Street epigram by Poe so much that I put it on my profile page today lol Yes, it sure is true today!
