I like your Haibun or whatever variation it is.

Very well done, I love both prose and matching haiku. Excellent expressions, well chosen picture, thank you for sharing this, love, Y.

Oh, thank you, Y, for stopping by and reviewing. I feared calling it a Haibun because it did not look like any Haibun I have seen, but reviewers are calling it a Haibun. Thanks again.

Andre,

This is lovely and so touching. It's always amazing the enormous quantities of love and faith and endurance and encouragement a mother carries -- and I'm a mother! *smile* Bless her heart! And yours, too! Thanks for sharing!

I'm afraid I never had a poetic mum, but she was a skilled and inventive wth crafts, it wasn't till my forties I had a penchant for songwriting. So we share a common discovery. I enjoyed your prose/haiku, it's a beauty, very poignantly penned, and very reflective in its depth, well done, blessings, Roy

A very well-written heartfelt poem. I only start writing poetry when I was 56, at first it was not very good and my grammar knowledge was not of the best and I nearly quit after the first month. But my determined attitude drives me to keep on trying.

Oh, thank you, Sandra, for sharing your late-blooming story. Many reviewers have told me they starter writing in their forties and fifties. Thank you for your review of my "very well-written heartfelt poem."

This is a delightful story in a prose poem. I think mothers know best springs to mind. I liked the encouragement you got from your mum. It is a pity more mums don't see the true potential of their children. Thank you for sharing.

"A rose by any othey name... etc." I suppose we need these titles, haibun, prose poem and the like so we can file our received experiences under the right heading. Whatever you call this makes no difference to what it is and that amounts to a beautiful reading experience. It is a lovely autobiograhical chapter summed up by a first class haiku, and whether you are a sleeping giant waking or not is neither here nor there. I think this is first class stuff.

Mother's sometimes know more than you think they do. This rather long prose poem/haibun shows the love between you two. What a sad picture and how sad that the butterfly doesn't get to watch their offspring grow.

Sorry for your loss.

I also started writing again after my mother died in 2006.

Isn't that something, DP, that we both started writing after our mothers died? Sometimes it takes a loss like that to awake the "sleeping giant" in their children. Thank you for your review.

This prose to prism piece says a lot about the enduring love and support of a parent. There are many stories about people who under-performed in school, but excelled in life. Great reflection on your mom and her support.

Moms wish and like to feel so about their children, many wish their children be before their eyes live in fame and not to leave the cocoons and fly, out of love-belongingness; finest example you've set in the Haiku about sacrifice, God wishes to teach us this way, you're great (no comparison to mom); I liked, enjoyed finest imagery, so 6-star you deserve for.
